The guy in my league who won last season had Doug Baldwin as his No.1 WR and terrible WRs after that, however he owned Gurley and Bell and rode them to the ship. To say he is gonna do it again next year without an injury or be able to put in half bleep WRs would be an outlier. The RB position is volatile with the pounding they take and the injuries that arise. However if somebody offered me Gurley/Bell or Beckham/Hopkins, I would still take the RBs. It's very close, but I've seen it win before and while healthy, could do it again.

I think that a hard-and-fast rule is far less helpful than a discussion about the specific trade in question.

If you haven't already, I'd post in the Team thread the trade proposal on the table and go from there.

I personally prefer top 10 RBs over top 10 WRs. Might just be because it's impossible to buy RBs in my league and I'm jaded over my prior history with going WR heavy. But I went 3 seasons with AB/Nuk/Dez/Arob as my top 4 WRs (from 2014-2017) and never won a championship. Finally decided during last season to blow up the roster because I didn't have much at RB and these 4 weren't winning me the title.

I am now going RB heavy and sold AB/Nuk/Dez. I now have Arob as my best WR along with Zeke/Barkley/Mixon/CMC/Penny at RB. I'm liking the RB heavy approach more than the WR heavy approach right now.

If you can pull it off, the best method is to hold “elite WRs” during the offseason and into September.

Then once the regular season starts and you get a clue as to who the elite rbs will be that year (Hunt and Gurley 2017 for example), you cash in those WRs for a soon to be elite RB.

Then you ride said RB to the championship and after the season ends (and you’ll know that they will be 1st round startup kinda guys), you cash in those chips for an elite WR.

Rinse and repeat each year and you will always compete
