Thomas+ for Zeke

My team is currently a borderline playoff team (I'm currently 4-4 and in 7th place on a tiebreaker...6 teams make it). I don't really think I have a great chance of winning in the playoffs though, and would like to make a move to weaken my team in the short term.

Thinking of offering the following to a 7-1 team:

Give:
Michael Thomas
Jerick McKinnon

Receive:
Zeke

Does this seem reasonable for both sides? He'll need RB help with Zeke's suspension, and could also use another WR. I have a ton of WRs but no high level RBs. McKinnon is obviously the wildcard here: if he ends up landing in a good situation in free agency then I may end up losing this.

I would need something much better than McKinnon to even think about this.

The only way I would do this is in a redraft league. Not close for dynasty

Zeke all the way.

How much would you add to the Thomas side? My feeling was that Thomas and Zeke weren't THAT far apart. I have Thomas at #11 overall and Zeke at #5 overall. I'll grant that in normal circumstances I would expect to add a fair bit more than McKinnon, but it seems like Zeke is about to serve a 6 game suspension so I think that puts Thomas and Zeke's value a bit closer, especially for a contender. I know people will say it's dynasty, but taking 6 games out of the current season has to hurt his value more than 0.

If Zeke's suspension is upheld I think this is a fair trade that helps both sides accomplish their goals. If he is 7-1, he gets a consistent top 10 WR and a stop gap running back. You get Zeke for the future. I think this is pretty fair.

FWIW, the Zeke owner in my league is 7-1 and just made this trade to move Zeke.

Give: Zeke
Receive: McCoy, Diggs

Personally, I have MT>Diggs, and given how old McCoy is not sure how much value he would retain after this year. So I would find this as a similar value as your trade to a contender.

Considering the suspension and that we play to win each year (which, sounds like your opponent as a legit shot at doing)...I think you are fine starting at your original offer and seeing what the response is.

The Zeke owner in my league needs another WR badly. His WR2 is ostensibly Emmanuel Sanders right now. I think this trade makes him the title favorite.

The trade in your league will be seen as way more value for Zeke by the community as a whole because McCoy is valued in the top 50. He does turn 30 after this season, but he could definitely have another season or two of high level production, which is where a big part of the value gap between him and McKinnon comes from, I think (plus he's way more proven). That said, McKinnon is a UFA after this season so it's not like he's guaranteed to disappear after this year, and I expect him to continue to have value. I think he's worth a late first to a contender right now, and if another team signs him this off-season and makes him their presumptive starter then I expect to see him jump into the top 40, but that's a big if at this point.

Send the offer. I think it could be close for a contender, but it depends on how he feels about his team.

I'd favor the Zeke side by a decent but fwiw.
