McDonald to Steelers

Who does this help the most? Kittle? McDonald? I know Pitt has Jesse James, though he seemed mainly a red zone weapon. Vance just could not put it all together and health seems to be an issue. Not the biggest of trades, but it is a slow Tuesday.

Really nice move for the Steelers as McDonald probably fits the vacancy of Heath Miller better than anyone else that has tried. This won't vault him up the rankings but he should see weekly production with a modest ceiling.

Not sure about Kittle as the 49ers offense has been a mess for a while. I'm in a position of being forced to start Hoyer in week one and not feeling good about it with the uncertainty there.

I think it helps both McDonald and Kittle (obviously). McDonald should have a shot at being the main pass catching TE and could have some decent value as a TE2. Kittle I like and think he might still take some time to continue developing, but is someone I'd target in dynasty leagues (might be too late to buy now though).

It's been known since he was signed that Kyle Juszczyk will be playing all over the formation, but I think this further confirms that a lot of TE/H-back snaps are headed his way this year. I think he might be a threat for 70 catches. If he's also getting some goal-line carries as John Kuhn v2, he could be a fascinating sleeper RB2 in PPR.

This isn't me throwing shade on Kittle. I like Kittle, I just don't think he's ready yet for a major role. More snaps and reps this year is definitely great for accelerating his development, though.

I guess the niners felt comfortable with kittle. I think Kittle is the winner in all of this.

If Ben can forgive Vance for committing a couple hideous drops every single game I think Vance can settle in as a TE2. I like Kittle better long term.

Definitely a good sign for Kittle LONG term..this year's irrelevant as rookie tight ends are worthless. Target share will be dominated by Garcon/Goodwin/RB's anyways.

Vance I'm not sure of. Maybe a nice best ball option. Probably won't ever want to have to rely on him in H2H leagues.

It makes me smh that he's even classified as an RB for fantasy. He's basically Aaron Hernandez with plus blocking and minus sociopathy.

I'm very happy about this news, as I had McDonald and Kittle both in a few leagues. Obviously it helps both. I think it helps Vance more right now, he could easily be a TE1 this year as a starter in that offense. With Kittle you have athleticism meeting opportunity, which doesn't usually work out (especially for rookie TEs) but when it does it can be huge. The upside there is Jordan Reed without the concussions.

Only really hurts Jesse James outlook. Good for MacDonald and Kittle in SF

I agree, Kittle started getting scooped up 3/4 weeks ago in leagues I'm in

I am in the same situation, after hearing the news yesterday I was like score! It almost felt like getting a new guy off the wire that you really wanted, but for FREE

Vance is decent, but overrated. Teased plenty, never quite broke out - if he can't this year, he won't ever.

Couldn't be a better situation for McDonald. Ultimately, I just don't think he's any good at being a high volume receiving TE.
