This.

Waiver priority leagues should have FA in the rookie draft imo however all leagues should be blind bidding by now. Waiver priority is great for redraft but has 0 place in dynasty

This is something that should have already been decided in the bylaws when the league was started. If it wasn't, I'd put it to a league vote and let everyone decide.

This would be my first question. Are there clearly written bylaws regarding how drafts will operate drafted at the conception of the league or are you guys shooting form the hip?

I have both leagues that include free agents, and those that don't. Either way it is described in our rules and bylaws so there are no questions.

There is no right or wrong way.

I'm in leagues that combine both, and leagues that are only rookies. The time they happen is irrelevant. Thing is we do blind bidding for every league, and these rules were in place from day 1 without changing. Changing these rules on a whim shouldn't happen unless the entire league votes.

So there is nothing fishy about doing rookie only. So long as your league has always been that way. And you guys need to go to blind bidding asap.

The only leagues I am in that don't include vets in the annual draft are the ones who have open free agency during the off-season.

I am in many leagues that don't include FA's in the draft but they have blind bidding waivers after. Otherwise the ones that do include them still have blind bidding after because who the hell uses waiver priority?
probably the majority of leagues that aren't auction leagues.

This. My leagues include FAs in the rookie draft, but if this wasn't clearly stated in the bylaws before, take a vote.

Blind bidding isn't auction either. Most of my leagues are blind bidding and I have 0 auction leagues left.
Also you can do FA auctions even if your drafts are not auctions

How do you move to blind bidding from waiver order when you have no other salary / auction amount set up in the structure?

We're moving to year 2 of dynasty now, and have waivers between game weeks - offseason is free for all, then after the rookie draft (including Free Agents) we have waivers before it opens up as free agency again. It was set up with waivers as we were all moving from a redraft format.

I agree the waiver should be blind bidding where everyone has the opportunity at the Free Agents not included in the Rookie/FA draft, I noticed in my own Rookie/FA draft that some Free Agents were locked during our draft .. after investigating, it was players dropped by owners in the offseason after players locked at the end of season... Point is something like this can happen unintentionally, but the idea of a waiver priority (instead of blind bids) to me doesn't seem fair ..

None of my blind bidding leagues use auctions or salaries... Every team gets a free agent budget of funds. Highest bid wins. The budget resets at the start of each year.

this ^^ in both of my leagues with 2 little spiffs ,
1) FAAB$ is 100.00 per year ( set what ever amount you want just so long as all owners are awarded the same amount ) & can be used as a trade asset.
2) it rolls over from year to year a few teams have $400 or $500 from acquiring some as trade asset or not using their whole budget . That may nt work for everyone but it is spelled out and the entire league knows what the system is and how it is implemented.

i have multiple leagues where FA aren't available in rookie drafts, no problem there. The problem is waiver priority rather than blind bid.

My league's rookie draft doesn't include free agents. Also, the waiver wire order doesn't carry over from the previous season, its based on the final standings. Actually, our league is moving to blind bidding for waivers after this year. Personally, I wouldn't mind if it started this season...
