Victor Cruz: Anything Left?

Reports are he's signing a 1 year deal with Chicago.

Does he have anything left? Worth a roster spot?

I'm snatching him up an upside end of the bench flier where I can. I've seen him produce, although it's been a few years and there aren't many receivers there to compete with. Meredith and White aren't exactly locks.

Meredith is the guy I'd be buying right now as the Bears keep loading up on low quality #2 and 3s.

He's worth rostering for sure but I wouldn't expect a whole lot.

I love Cruz, but I wouldn't expect anything from him.

Being a Bears fan--I would be absolutely shocked if he got 300 yds and 4 TDS

I wouldn't roster him in any league with less than 60-man rosters (IDP). In non-IDP, that would probably equate to 30-35 man rosters.

I can't see where there's much point rostering him. You've got White and Meredith on the outside with Cruz fighting Kendall Wright and Wheaton. Both Wright and Wheaton are younger and have less questions about their health.

I'd let somebody else grab Cruz. After his leg injury, he hasn't really been the same. Great salsa dancer though. :P I'll leave him out there for someone else in my league. It's a 3 way slot receiving mess with Wright and Wheaton. Now if White doesn't show up this year, he might be a bye week plug, but for the most part, not worth the space unless you're in some 40 roster spot league. In that case, you're just hoarding receivers you'll never use.

Seems to have a chip on his shoulder. Wouldnt be surprised if he outperforms Meredith this season - not saying it will happen just that it is in the realm of possibilities (for me).

I think he's worth a stash in deeper leagues. A year under his belt since his return and a change of scenery could be positives. And Meredith and White aren't exactly locked in as studs. Anything's possible.

He very well may have something left in Chicago, but the reality is I can't justify rostering him in any of the formats I play. Certainly worth a stash in very, very deep leagues but most likely his best days are long behind him.

I don't think anybody can argue that his best days aren't behind him. In his day he was an elite WR1. I don't think anybody expects that. But I bet he could be a serviceable WR3 / Flex play with d cent upside. I could be wrong. But I'm interested to find out one way or another.

Patellar tendon tears are the end of the road for players on my roster. It is a sad thing but it is an injury that they haven't quite figured out how to get the player back to 100% from. I hope that patellar tears will soon be spoken of in the same light as ACL and MCL tears, where most players can get back to performing at a similar level after rehab. IMO Cruz is only on a roster (real life or fantasy) because of name recognition by fans. Let someone else clog their bench with him.

I hope you're just being hyperbolic. He wasn't just on a roster, he was on the field for over 70% of the snaps last year. You don't get that kind of playtime based solely on name recognition.
