Alshon believers

Postby fantasydem » Fri May 19, 2017 7:41 pm

Is there anybody out there that still believes in Alshon? I've been big on him since he broke out a few seasons ago and have made him a target in a lot of my startups/redrafts and continue to be let down ever since. I'm not sold into Wentz yet so somebody sell me on Alshon.

Not sure how you want to be sold, but he's the prototypical WR that we look for in studs and has put up huge numbers in the past.

I recently traded Marshawn Lynch and Reggie Ragland for Alshon and a 2018 3rd.

Several factors attracted me to him:
1) Surrounding cast: Up and coming Smart QB, burner in Smith added to opposite side and big bodied Slot WR in Matthews (who should dominate with safety over coverage on Alshon). Now that they added a big dependable goal line back, I think Alshon will have more red zone opportunities 1 on 1 as defenses stack line for Blount.
2) Contract Year: Its amazing how many players can avoid the injury bug when they are playing for the big pay day
3) He has a chip on his shoulder about the poor situation and ultra conservative Fox coaching style which just plain sucks. All reports tend to support he is motivated, being a consummate teammate and working with Wentz to develop chemistry.

I believe he will have a top 10 season this year.

Alshon Jeffery is one of the top buys at WR right now. You can get him for a very fair price, especially with rookie fever hitting the masses.

He just turned 27. He's put up multiple WR1 seasons and just signed with a team intent on making him their possession receiver. He's also going from an offense that was 22nd in pass attempts last season to one that was 6th. For all the concern about injuries, Alshon was healthy last season. He would've played in all 16 games, had he not got himself suspended. Any struggles he had were blamed on the lack of chemistry with the QB carousel. Despite that, Alshon put up a 52/821/2 line in 12 games. The touchdowns are a fluke and should increased. He averaged 68.4 yards per game, which would be good enough for a range of at least 1,000 yards.

If Wentz is competent, I think Alshon is in the WR1 conversation next season.
