Odell vs Evans at 1.01

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Odell vs Evans at 1.01

Postby Tyrober » Mon May 15, 2017 5:53 am

Why is Odell going before Evans in start ups? Iv done about a dozen startups this year and have yet to see someone take Evans over Odell. Both are very talented and in pretty solid situations but wouldn't any advantage Odell has over Evans be canceled out by their long term QB situation? Manning in solid but he's probably only going to play a few more years while Evans is going to be paired up with Winston for the next 8-10 years. Maybe I'm just a bigger fan of Evans but Iv got the 1.01 in a startup that starts in a few hours and was deciding between the two studs.

I don't have an answer for you. What I am going to do is agree with you. They're pretty much equally productive but Evans situation is much more stable and he's bigger and stronger, which adds to his long term durability. So yea i'm taking Evans 1.01 all day in a startup, unless someone can clearly convince me otherwise...

I am in the EXACT same situation. I have a start up later this week and everyone an their mom (Happy Mother's Day) is taking ODB with 1 but I'm going with Evans.

Evans is now my 1.01 but I can't fault anyone either way. I think Odell's talent is just a smidge better than Evans but not far enough apart to where one should be the clear 1.01. Evans just has the better situation. I would rather have Evans over Odell but it's personal preference

Let the pick simmer, listen to your league mates complain, and TRADE DOWN. Getting the first pick is a huge advantage.

They're both immensely talented, but Evans has situation and isn't a total headcase like OBJ. Its a tough choice, but i'm going Evans. You don't find many 6' 5" WRs that dominate with TDs like him. I would not be surprised to see him have a few years where he leads all WRs in TDs.

This is what I am leaning towards as well but just haven't saw a single person do it yet. I know you can't go wrong with either but if that is the case it seems like someone would have taken Evans over Odell in at least one so far.

I agree. Odell shouldn't be the clear 1.01 over Evans but in all the drafts so far it certainly seems that way so its quite the head scratcher

Sounds to me like you oughtta be pimping Odell out for a future first to drop back a spot and take Evans ;)
All my teams suck. And I'm not in your league.

I'm still taking OBJ. I think he's more talented and not QB reliant (not saying Evans is, but I don't think a change in QB will hurt OBJ's value that much). And who's to say when Eli is done, the next QB is going to be bad.

You can't go wrong with either one.

I think Evans is the better longterm option due to his situation and a play style that will age better.
