So much for those hoping he lands in Houston or Denver.

Smart move for Tony.

This was always his plan. He just wanted to wait for the Cowboys to release him so he got to keep all his money and then retire.

Smart move. His body just couldn't take more abuse.

He never got the credit he deserved. I am a heavy Romo supporter. Shame to see his name dragged through the mud so much.

Selfishly I was hoping he would land somewhere because I always enjoyed watching him play. Probably a good move for him though.

Pro Bowler on the field, HOFer off the field.

I really thought he was going to Houston. He must have gotten a really nice TV offer.

what a terrific career for an UDFA , he didn't have much post season success but few have gotten more from such a humble start than Romo. In his wildest dreams he couldn't have imagined how it turned out when he was coming out of college.

Since so many of the great/older QBs in this era have had postseason success: Brady, Ben, Eli, Brees, Flacco (lol), Peyton, Rodgers....Romo will always be remembered for what he couldn't do in the postseason, probably on a similar level to Phillip Rivers IMO. Very, very solid career.

I think he still has gas left in the the tank and he should have found a new home - soon he won't be able to make a comeback whether he wants to or not. He has unfinished business and the way he went out feels very symbolic of his career. I like Romo as a person, total class act. But I don't get Rotowold mentioning his name as a possible HOFer - no MVP, no championship, and no real playoff success.

To be fair, the team around him was pretty mediocre during the majority of his career and his post season opportunities were limited. (And the Dez catch called incomplete didn't exactly help - if that call is made correctly, Romo's post season success may be viewed differently).

Until he actually files the paperwork...I wouldn't be so quick to believe reports. Hell, even after he files the paperwork...there's always a chance.

Look at how many dynasty teams still owned Megatron and Marshawn Lynch for a year or two after they retired. And look at the rumors surrounding Lynch now.

I figure Romo is still a hold.

Right on brother, I'm right there with you. Also, keep in mind, he was UNDRAFTED. He will go down as one of the most under-rated QBs of all-time. If I'm not mistaken, he only played with 1 top 10 defense his whole career and what do you know, the Cowboys won the division that season and 1 playoff game, but people tried to blame everything on him, lol, he and along with Witten will go down as two of my all-time favorites for the way they left it all out on the field, played through injuries, etc.

Definitely^^^^. The Cowboys had already beaten Seattle up there and maybe could have done it again to reach a SB. Romo played with like 1 top ten defense his whole career, that's a damn shame.

One of my all time favorite players--and I agree, if the Refs would have had called the "Dez Catch" correctly, who know what would have happened----Good Luck to him!!!!

It is the smart choice for him considering his back issues. Additionally, no more Phil Simms...that's a bonus.

I'm surprised and delighted at the positive comments here. There have always been so many damn Romo haters out there, even amongst Cowboys fans. He's one of my all-time favorite players. I'm bummed we never got a ring with him, but I think his non-success in the playoffs is overblown as being his fault. It might not be first ballot, but he's a HoFer imho.
