PSA: Don't drink and trade

Postby pokerface40 » Sun Mar 19, 2017 12:18 pm

So I wake up this morning to a completed trade that I barely remember offering:

I give: Terrance West, Seth Roberts
I receive: Matt Forte

Now the trade itself isn't all that terrible. I probably wouldn't make it in the sober state I'm in now but it could be argued either way.

The point of this post was to see if anyone else has any good stories of waking up after a night of heavy imbibing to regret, or celebrate a trade....

You weren't that drunk last night based on the offer I received haha.

But I've been out a few times when making some deals, but I'll never get to the point where I don't remember what happened.

Me neither, I shouldn't have said I barely remember it, but rather I don't remember what my thought process that made me think it was a good idea. I know I was targeting the Dixon owner to sell him on West as a handcuff, and that's about it.

Also, to the trade I offered you.... anybody would have to be drunk to send out an offer selling Brock Osweiler and expecting anything of value in return haha.

I usually rip down some rockstar rails or pop a couple Oxys before I dive into trade mode. Never have to worry about not remembering.

This should just say "drink and trade". This is what fantasy football is all about.

In one of my leagues we were on a road trip after a bachelor party and I believe 7 trades were made in a 4-5 hour ride. 7 of the 10 league members were in the van, 6 were drinking heavily.

Sounds like a good time. I bet championship teams were born and crushed in that van.

As for drunk trades...I've made a few that I probably wouldn't have sober...but nothing catastrophic to the team. As much fun as it is to wake up to a trade proposal...imagine how much fun it is to wake up to a completed trade...and your team was involved.

Good times.

Love the topic...I actually had to go back and figure it out, but here it goes...this was for Team 3 in sig last summer, remembering it was a rebuilding team that had recently just acquired ARob, and Mariota a few days earlier (separate deals, but I paid Kevin White, Mike Williams, 2017 Devy which turned out to be 1.01 (Courtland Sutton), 2018 1st which I expect to be back half in the 2018 rookie draft so essentially a 2nd Round pick).

July 16th, 2016

Gave: Will Tye
Received: Keith Marshall

That deal was right at the start of my imbibing, so a non-essential deal

Gave: ARob/Marcus Mariota
Received: Treadwell/RG3/2 2017 Devys/2018 Devy (The 2017 Devys turned out to be 1.04/1.05 where I took Holyfield/DK Metcalf)

Turned out to not be terrible with ARob struggling, but still not a strong deal unless DK becomes a WR1)

Gave: Treadwell
Received: Ronald Jones/2017 1st (this pick turned out to be 1.02 where I can draft Ross/Mixon/Foreman at this point in time)

We can call this one a win

Gave: Keenan
Received: Bilal Powell/Juju/Mike Williams

We can call this one a win I guess since Keenan got hurt and I was able to buy him back for cheaper.

But that was some big time deals in a matter of about 2 hours when I was wrecked while my wife was driving home from some party. I definitely felt a little bashful on the message boards the following day though...last time I got that wrecked and made deals...

Week 11 I was in Mexico for a wedding. I found out I lost to the groom to be by 3 points, because Cooks put up 0 points. At 2:55am I sent out an offer of Cooks for DT. At 2:56am it was accepted.

At 11am I was regretful.

Just yesterday after about 6 Racer 5 IPA's, I convinced myself it was a good Idea to trade Davante Parker and a 6th round pick for Ameer Abdullah in a 3rd in a PPR league. Not quite sure how I feel about it this morning. I suppose it's not horrible taking into account that Adullah likely becomes my RB 2 and Parker was my WR 5. TBD I guess lol.

Every time me and one league mate are hammered we end up making some random bleep trade and it always involves a kicker, usually Gano.

About 90% of the texts are about why the kicker needs to be included or the deal is off.

I make bad decisions sober and drunk so really my mental state is inconsequential in the grand scheme of mismanaging my team
