OJ Howard v David Njoku

These TEs are being tossed around as the top two, but I've seen each being listed above others in scouting reports. I'm intrigued if they are touted as better prospects than last year's crop. My leagues are all start 2TE in a 16tm format.

EDIT: swapping out Evan Engram here as I believe he'll become WR in the NFL

Howard looks like Tony Gonzalez and lists at 6'6 250. Not bad.

David Njoku is sure to be rising up draft boards as long as he doesn't fail at the combine. This kid looks the part. He's listed at 6'4 240.

Howard is an excellent blocker now, without even a snap in the NFL. That will keep him on the field which is step 1. Step 2 is getting a decent number of targets, and I think that will depend largely on where he lands.

I would love to have Engram on my team as a WR. He has body control in spades.

Njoku reminds me a little too much of Ebron. He has tons of athleticism, but the route-running isn't quite there yet. I'd rather have Howard at this point because I think he's a much more complete player. If I knew Engram was going to remain at TE for sure, I'd rather have him than either of these two.

If Engram moves to WR, Id rather have him than these two and rather have him over Ross and McCaffery personally. If Engram moves to WR does he drop down your board?

I'm pretty excited for all three of these guys.. throw in hodges and Leggett and it's as deep as I've seen.

I'm a Njoku fan over Howard. when a player has as much physical talent as Howard and doesn't translate to the field, it's an immediate red flag for me.

Personally the difference to me is landing spot. I play in a TE premium league and I wouldn't be surprised to see all three of these guys go in the first round.

Edit: For reference in 2014 Ebron, Amaro and ASJ all went top ten

I think if he does convert to WR, his value will be very fluid to me, depending on situation. He's going to be a good seam buster and rz threat regardless of what position he plays, but I think the positional advantage that he could provide would be substantially better at TE. Similar to Jordan Reed to me.

Can we really fault Howard for how he was used in Alabama? When his number was called, he delivered.

I saw that Njoku was the youngest player at the combine. Does this change anything?

Njoku. Only because Howard won't be available in the early 2nd round.

Will Howard being a great blocker hurt his opportunities to run routes?

It could. Dwayne Allen routinely had to stay in & block while Fleener/Doyle got to run seam routes
