Superflex Question

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Superflex Question

Postby georgetown » Mon Jan 16, 2017 7:13 am

Team 2 below

The OBJ owner had mentioned that he would be willing to trade him this offseason. We just had our startup draft last year and he took him #1 overall.

He's not a big Watkins fan so I doubt that he would have to be included in the trade. Which leaves me to believe that he would want either Newton or Winston.

How much more value is added to Newton and Winston being that it's a superflex and then what else would I have to add to acquire OBJ?

Your QB situation isn't strong enough in a superflex to make this deal. Yes it would be great to gain OBJ but he won't help you win like another mobile starting QB will.

I would move Winston before Cam. This a new league so some owners might not value QBs as high as they should be in this type of league.

How valuable should QBs be then? Would I be better off to try and acquire another QB instead?

I know the Brees owner is looking to get a 1st round pick out of him.

No you don't need another QB Cutler is serviceable. What general mills is saying is that giving up Wilson or Cam for OBJ would actually hurt your team rather then help it.

QBs are valued much greater than any other position in Superflex.

Is Brees worth the 1.07?

Then I could use one of my QBs to go after OBJ?

Any thoughts on Brees for the 1.07?

No. You're team -- sorry to be blunt -- doesn't look like a championship contender.

Given that you have two young stud QBs in an SF league, there's next-to-no chance that I'd move either one. You'll be chasing that position and production forever. Keep them; they'll still be elite when you're ready to compete.

If you did both deals (Winston for OBJ and Brees for 1.7) in tandem, your team would be a bit more into win now territory. But you're a bunch of RBs short of a title run IMO. I don't think you could convert into a win now team with what you have currently. I think you'd end up short.

I would play the long game with your squad and continue to build over the next few years. I would start by try to either package up some picks/players to move up in the draft, to get some more assets. Or you could stay pat take a solid WR at 1.7 in 2017. Flip Cutler, MJones, DLewis and whatever you can for some picks in this or next year's draft or young players you believe in (D. Lewis now while his value is high).

Your core assets (Newton, Jameis and Sammy) will give you a window to compete in 2-3 years if you play it smart. If you try to rush it, you'll end up coming unstuck IMO.
