Howard for the 1.01?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Howard for the 1.01?

Postby BLuHeeLR » Sat Jan 14, 2017 8:20 am

Team in Sig

I was offered the 1.01 for Howard straight up, but I'm having a hard time accepting. Giving up Howard leaves me with a lot of question marks at RB. Abdullah and Richard are great potential RB's in our scoring system with PR/KR yardage - Richard finished as the RB 18 this year. I drafted a young team with an eye for the future, but I feel this trade moves my window back at least 1-2 years at best.

I also own the 1.02, 1.09, 2.02, 2.03, and 2.09 in the first two rounds. So essentially I'd be trading Howard and most likely drafting Cook and Fournette with the 1.01 and 1.02

Should I ask for more in return - he's also looking to move Cam, and owns Yeldon and OBJ. Does this trade actually make my team better in 2017 and beyond?

Thanks in advance!

There's like less than a 1% chance of a 5th round RB sustaining anything close to this level of production over the course of several years. Take the 1.01 and run.

Loved what I saw from Howard, but I would probably take the 1.01 here. Fournette is just a different breed of talent.

Sorry bud, but this is a horrible post. His draft pedigree has absolutely nothing, nothing to do with his sustaining success.

Anyway, Howard was a BEAST this year on a really bad team. I don't see him fading any time soon and I wouldn't be surprised if he improved on his pass catching skills which are already pretty solid. It's a fair trade.

The statistics do show that RBs drafted outside the top two rounds of the NFL Draft don't often make repeat performances in the top ten fantasy perfomances by RBs. Yes there are exceptions but the odds are against him.

This is kinda my point - the whole bird in the hand theory. Howard had a great year, 2nd best rookie RB season and one of the best ever. This trade is essentially Howard for Fournette, but Howard actually had success and doesn't seem to be fading or have any competition without any major concerns that I see. Fournette (or Cook) is all potential at this point. Trading a proven (albeit in 1 season) commodity for an unproven one - while not gaining any years of peak value just doesn't seem like a great swap to me. This is why I'm struggling with accepting the deal.
