2016/2017 Rookie Mock
Thought this might be a fun exercise for a few reasons I'll list below. I've seen a number of these done by "experts" and want to see what the dynasty community thinks as opposed to a guy who gets paid for it. Think this might be helpful for the following reasons:
1) we can help gauge the trade value of picks for 2017 (say 2016 1.03 vs 2017 1.03). I know the asking price for 1.01 and 1.02 was ridiculous in my league and want to see if this will hold true for 2017.
2) we can see if the hype for 2017 is real vs the "underwhelming" 2016 class.
3) we can begin to decide as a group how valuable each section of the draft is.
I understand that the 2016 class has a leg up (or down in some cases) due to landing spot, production, lack of production and all that. Let's value rookies in 2017 pureoh on talent and assume they land in a semi favorable situation. I know it's unrealistic, but predicting where players will land is borderline impossible.
Rules:
Assume 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1 Flex PPR scoring
1) First come, first serve. Don't be that guy who didn't read who was picked already.
2) Pick one player only, then wait for someone else to pick before you go again. Totally fine to pick every other if you're willing.
3) Feel free to post why you picked the guy, or what you like about him. Or don't. I don't care.
4) Don't be a jerk to someone who made a pick you don't like. When the guy who loves Breida (or whatever his name is) makes him pick 1.06, just let it be.
5) format: 1.01 Zeke Elliott
This might be better placed in College/Rookie Prep, but nobody goes there. If this falls into obscurity, I'll try again at a later date when more people care about it.

That was an unnecessary point to throw in at the end.Hahaclintondix wrote:Nobody goes there. Feel free not to take part. Also, sit on a carrot.Phaded wrote:There's literally a board for mocks.
If people want to participate in Mock Drafts - they would go to the Mock Draft section. 78 views and 1 response actually "drafting" - not a coincidence. People evidently don't care to have this posted here. It's October.
This is unnecessary clutter where it doesn't belong. There are multiple threads about players in the 2017 class already.
Re: 2016/2017 Rookie Mock
Does it really matter? I personally frequent 2, maybe 3 of the boards and haven't gone to the Mock Draft section I don't think in 3+ years of scoping, yet this one got my attention mainly because I don't watch college ball until the playoff so thought this would be as good a spot as any to get a sense of what people were thinking. Perhaps those 78 views are from people like me who don't hawk the college game enough but would like to get a sense of what others are thinking. Anyhow, maybe I'll go to the mock board since my curiosity has been piqued now, but is it really "chaos" if someone wants some more traction on their post?Phaded wrote:That was an unnecessary point to throw in at the end.Hahaclintondix wrote:Nobody goes there. This really shines a light on how underwhelming 2016 rookies have been compared to recent years.

Love this thread. And I completely agree no one looks in those other threads.
Are we drafting based on talent and draft grace OR with who in this class currently is.
Example: treadwell talent wise could be the 1.04 in this 2017 draft. However no way anyone gives anything but a super late 2017 first for him.

I was under the impression of based on talent alone since we don't know the landing spots of the 2017 class.schiewerma21 wrote:Love this thread. And I completely agree no one looks in those other threads.

Re: 2016/2017 Rookie Mock
Talent alone. Obviously we have more info on the 2016s, so their value is slightly skewed in way or another. So far this isn't much different from what I suspected. It's a decent way to help value these picks in terms of trade value and what you might flip a current rookie for, which is what I'm after more than what players you'd select at which pick. Basically what I want to find out (for example) is does 1.07 in 2017 equal 1.03 in 2016 in terms of how the community views these players. So if I'm looking to trade 1.07 in 2017, what price should I give up or sell at.
So far:
1.01 Zeke Elliott
1.02 Leonard Fournette
1.03 Dalvin Cook
1.04 Mike Williams

The whole argument point of "nobody goes to those sub-forums" is one of the dumbest things that I've read on here and this definitely isn't the first time I've heard this lazy excuse used...
And yes, people actually do go to those other forums pretty regularly, just look at the view counts.

Re: 2016/2017 Rookie Mock
Not 100% saying they don't. I'm more concerned with how we're viewing pick s this year as opposed to last year. If we like this class better and we wouldn't take Doctson until pick 10 in the combo mock, then pick 7-8 in 2017 is worth more than pick 4-6 last year. It's not a mock as much as a valuation. Like are we more willing to move something to trade into the first round now as opposed to last year? Are we willing to send a mid 2017 for Thomas or Fuller, or is the pick more valuable?Coogan Football wrote:The whole argument point of "nobody goes to those sub-forums" is one of the dumbest things that I've read on here and this definitely isn't the first time I've heard this lazy excuse used...

Feel free not to comment and bury it. I'll back off and allow others to comment (or not) so it either gets buried or we get something from it.
