Bronco Billy wrote: Mon Apr 08, 2024 6:57 am Reviewing the entirety of the draft to date, I’m getting the impression that this is not anywhere near as deep a draft class as has been previously touted. I want to be very clear that this is not a criticism aimed at the GEDL league or anyone in it. I’m seeing guys drafted in the back half of the second round and into the third that I do not see as better than guys drafted later - sometimes much later - in last year’s draft. And it’s not because I’m seeing guys who I think are better prospects falling. IMO this is not a deep class at all.

I may have to rethink my picks in the 4th round and beyond and see if I can’t acquire 2025 picks for them or use them as throw ins.
It's deep for SF. Not 1QB due to the lack of RB prospects. In SF you are looking at your late first getting you first round NFL WR talent still. We shall see.
How so? By the end of the 2/3 turn the top 6 QBs were all selected. Are you saying more than 6 QBs would be taken by that time in SF?
It is deeper earlier for Superflex... like a late 1st in a 12 team Superflex is still gold, but it still starts to get dicey by the end of round 2.

I'm with Bronco, going to try to sell some of my 3rds and 4ths in 2-for-1 type deals to move up in this draft or add 2025 2nds. The constant theme in most articles is I'd be thrilled to draft guys in the 3rd and 4th, but in a real life mock none of the guys they are touting last anywhere near that long.

Thanks for sharing this! I think we got some critical, actionable information from just the live breakdown.

My biggest take away so far, is after 1.5, it’s gonna vary from draft to draft

AD Mitchell, Troy Franklin, and Ladd McConkey all went 11, 12, 13 in this 1QB draft.

They took QB's and RB's before them.

If at least one of those guys isn't an NFL 1st round WR I'll be shocked.

I remember the 2016 NFL draft, where the top 5 were scripted with the following 5 players:

Zeke
Treadwell
Josh Doctson
Corey Coleman
Derek Henry

6-7 were usually Sterling Sheppard & Michael Thomas. MT never cracked the top 5 though. If he did, people would call it a reach & say you should've traded back for him.

Ehhh.... a guy took MT 1.02 in one of my leagues. Worked out pretty well for him.

But you always remember the exception to the rule, not the 10'numerous leagues where what you said was true...

Were your leaguemates thinking “WTF”? I would’ve. That would be like taking Brian Thomas at 1.2 in this year’s draft.

I was ok with the trade itself on value differentiation. I'm not crazy high on Addison, so that's not a roster-crushing loss for me.

What bothered me was choosing Bowers that early in a non-TEP league. I would have loved to see a double-bite at the WR apple with 1.04 and 1.05. Not criticizing the choice. Just saying I would have felt even better about the trade if a different player had been chosen.
Goes back to the old argument about position valuation. Bowers may be a greater source of additional points vs what was currently on the roster whereas taking on the wr might be more of a lateral gain vs current squad guys. But that is for each to decide
That's very true. I used to be a big believer in position valuation. I've kind of fallen off that bandwagon in the last few years, but that doesn't mean there isn't validity to the theory. If Bower puts up Laporte numbers for the next 8 years, I'll be the one who missed out.

Thanks Mark! I just jumped into the forum today to see if you had started your draft. Pleasantly surprised to see that it’s practically finished. Always enjoy watching you guys draft as we bide our time before the NFL draft. Cheers!

Yes he does. Mark has done the graphics for all the leagues that I run and start. I might be a snob now but I won’t play in boring looking league sites now. I can show you my leagues if you want some inspiration
