I'm on the side of skeptical that this move is going to unlock DJM. For me it's not about the talent, it's about the opportunity. I don't see CHI changing its offense overnight because of acquiring DJM. If we knew DJM was going to get traded, I don't think very many people would have said CHI was a terrific landing spot. Maybe long term, but I don't see a major jump in production for 2023. That said, it's certainly better than having stayed in CAR.

It's a toss up for me. The rookie QB the Panthers draft may be a better passer than Fields.
Not all that counts can be counted. Not all that can be counted counts.

The Bears won’t change their offense overnight because they acquired DJM. They acquired DJM because of their already stated intent to change their offense.

That doesn’t mean it’ll work, mind you, but the Bears and Fields have openly said they gotta get the passing game going. It’s gonna be a focus for them.

Moore was going to get a QB upgrade either way. Supposedly, the Panthers preferred to include a 25 1st over Moore. Being a part of a Fields breakout could result in a career season though.

One, Fields will be better than any rookie QB CAR takes, THIS YEAR.
Down the road? I honestly think Fields is better than any QB in this draft.
SO...we'll see. I'd rather have fields.

(1QB)

What would you be looking to sell DJM for?

Contrary - What would you like to buy him for?

Every year it feels like there’s some reason to be optimistic that this year will be the year he unlocks WR1 (ie; Baker has to be an upgrade right? Then he wasn’t), but he never has.

Which maybe is fielding into my fields bias of him not ultimately upping DJs stats.

DJ’s finishing PPR WR rank per year:
2018 - 36
2019 - 16
2020 - 25
2021 - 18
2022 - 23

Get rid of his first year and his average is still only 20.5, which is just a mid WR2.

I’d probably buy for a second, but people probably want a first.

I think it would take a high 2nd and I would not pay a first for him but some might pay a 1.10-1.12.

Exactly!

Every year DJM owner's get their hopes up, and every year they come crashing down.

At this point it's like watching Lucy talking Charlie Brown into taking another kick at the football, promising that she won't pull the ball away at the last second this time.

The horror of owning DJM.

considering it was the worst passing offense of the past 20 years, it would be worrying if they weren't saying that, not "promising because they do".

Yeah, I think some people are underselling being a Top-24 WR in fantasy for four consecutive seasons. So, his floor is a WR2 and now that he has a QB upgrade for the first time in four seasons, he still can't be anything more?

I don't think being a WR2 is his floor. Maybe the Bears are once again a very low volume passing team, so his stats could be worse than while in Carolina. I'd bet against that scenario, but it's a real possibility.
