The value of returners just went up in the NFL, so no surprise him and Patterson are getting multi-year deals following the kickoff changes

Could even be WR3

No. Go to the chargers. Or some other team I don't have then starting rb
I’m sure that will be near the top of his considerations.

Ugh. I love Stroud. But can he support 3WRs and a TE? Who is the odd man out here?

Also, whoever the Bills draft is undoubtedly now our rookie WR4.

I mean, the offense gets better, he proved he's capable when left on his own, so Diggs may affect targets, but the overall pie gets bigger. Dell overlaps with Diggs more, IMO. Nico is a downfield threat, and Diggs has lost that ability. Diggs may end up being the slot guy a lot.

Hope you're right. Man this team is gonna be fun to watch

I'm not convinced Diggs is real world WR1 material any more. Maybe not even consistent WR2. Remember how fast OBJ fell off? Julio Jones? AJ Green?

It's very possible Diggs falls to a spot duty role, where he's targeted only a few times per game.

But if Diggs is still as good as ever, I'm going to love watching Texans games this year! And I'm not even a Texans fan, outside of being a fan of their other WRs, QB, TE and DEF.

Agreed. He can definitely help their offense, but how will he react to not being "the guy" anymore, is the big question for me, if that's the case.

Yep.

I think that will partly be mitigated by having a second coach/organization tell you "you're not that guy anymore."

OBJ was a lot less of a headache after leaving Cleveland, when in LA, yet another coach said, "ehhhh, take it down a notch." And by the time OBJ was in Baltimore last year, all that incessant whining was gone.

Most players tamp down the whining when they realize they're still falling after a team switch. I have a feeling that if he's not producing like a star, Diggs (and his brother) will be happy to tone down the whining and just keep collecting that big paycheck.

I see this as Diggs 100% being the slot guy. Could also fill in for a bit if Dell isn't 100%

With Jigga here.

Nice place to be if you're an A+ route runner who has lost a little of your edge athletically... and we know Stroud will happily force feed an elite Slot WR (ie. why we drafted JSN so high)

per PFF:
Texans top 5 wide receivers in 2023 slot percentage

Robert Woods - 56.7%
Noah Brown - 39.4%
Stefon Diggs - 36.1%
Tank Dell - 28.8%
Nico Collins - 20.2%
As close of a lateral move as you could hope for as a Diggs owner. Stroud doesn't rush his TD's in, either.

He won't get 160 targets again, but he's going to be schemed open *way* more in this Shanny-style offense.

Yeah. I've come around to thinking Dell takes the biggest ding. But it's not great for Nico either. One more very hungry mouth to feed. I don't think the pie grows enough to offset that. Still drafting Nico highest for '24 but I don't see WR1 upside any more. ~WR16 or so preseason IMO. Diggs slightly behind that and Dell now a high end WR3. This offense is loaded if Mixon still has anything left in the tank.

Somebody is going to take hits to their opportunity. Stroud as a rookie was already 7th in the league in passing attempts per game and was not too far off from the top guys. Not sure how many more attempts he’s going to get per game, especially if the rest of the team improves around him. A better completion pct is going to offset that a little, but if anyone is expecting a meaningfully larger pie they might be in for a sad surprise.
