To clarify I don't hold it against any athlete for getting paid as much as they can. They just shouldn't also expect a championship caliber team to be built around them when they score that mega contract.

Thanks for your thoughts, Lumps. REALLY appreciate them. Overall, I'm with you about Favre -- my favorite football player of all time -- and the fan trajectory. And with Rodgers, too.

And here's the HUGE difference between the two at the end of their Packers careers: Rodgers has been true to his word that he would make decisions in a timely manner. You can love him, hate him, judge him, support him, whatever. But he has kept up his timeline. And, for all the mixed things he says on the McAfee show, he has -- this whole off-season -- also said that he gets it, he understand why the Packers want to move on, and that he is a big fan of Love. Honestly, when the Packers trade him, I won't have any hard feelings for him. It was different with Favre.

I, for one, would love to hear why you didn't root for the Packers this year. Feel free to DM me if you feel it would derail this thread.

Thanks for your posts, Lumps!

Thanks for the appreciation.

I would add to your Rodgers comments that people have been quick to judge and assume he is dragging his feet and holding up the process. Myself included. I've either cracked jokes about diva things in this thread or another one floating around. But it appears to be now, that he told the Packers what he wanted, they gave him the opportunity to talk to the Jets, he did, and made it known to both sides then. The dragging out of the process sounds like it's just the haggling between teams... and people assume it's Rodgers because none of the parties are talking to the press at all - Rodgers, Packers, or the Jets.

Also, PMd you.

Csl312 wrote: Sat Mar 18, 2023 9:58 am Part of the problem I have with Rodgers is that a QB like Brady was comfortable with a smaller and differently structured contract so he could get the weapons he needed. I knew that Rodgers wasn't going to win a super bowl when he signed this most recent contract - the team had too many holes to fill and taking up big chunks of cap for QB wasn't going to help. TB also was a leader for the team who played a role in developing that talent. I don't think either of those things really apply to Rodgers.

Having lived in Wisconsin for most of Rodgers tenure starting for the Packers I also heard plenty of stories of fairly negative fan interactions. I think if you want to be a star athlete you need to understand that part of that job is being nice to strangers who at the end of the day fund your paycheck. It's also finding a way to be at least cordial with reporters. And the truly great athletes make their whole team better instead of complaining that their teammates aren't good enough.
Brady was unique in that sense. I don't blame anyone for trying to get their money... within reason...
brady got his money. the cheats would send all their players to his facility to do whatever they do there. somehow this payment never made it to the player's official salary from the team.
Hope they paid TB12 in his bitcoin money 💰

Rich Eisen suggesting if the Packers want to drag this out and it's not done by the draft....

That Rodgers should show up during the GMs press conference while they are introducing rookies and whatnot. Just stand in the back. Let reporters know he'll be at his locker. I am 100% here for it.

Something else on the horizon. Packers have until May 1 to exercise Love's 5th year option.

Finally, it's not clickbait:

Trade compensation, per sources:

Jets get:
🏈Aaron Rodgers, pick No. 15, a 2023 5th-rd pick (No. 170).

Packers get:
🏈Pick No. 13, a 2023 2nd-rd pick (No. 42), a 6th-rd pick (No. 207), a conditional 2024 2nd-rd pick that becomes a 1st if Rodgers plays 65 percent of the plays.

Well done by the Packers. A 1st and 2nd, at worst 2 seconds, and a move up in the first round this year.

Zach Wilson now playing 36% of plays. Any time they have a game in hand, pull Rodgers!  And/or some more wildcat stuff!
