Re: Myles Sanders vs David Montgomery
Traded up to 1.3 yesterday to get Sanders. Prefer him to Montgomery because of the athletic testing, plus Sanders was an elite recruit. I have doubts on Montgomery's profile but if he's going to get 250+ touches then who cares. He does seem like he'll be able to handle a high workload. I'm fine with betting more on Sanders and missing out on Montgomery though. I'd hate myself more if I did it the other way and Sanders ended up outperforming Montgomery.

Re: Myles Sanders vs David Montgomery
I just feel like Sanders is in a really crowded backfield, RBBC. Montgomery will work WITH Cohen, but will still be the starting back. In PPR leagues Cohen will get his, non PPR, not as much.

Re: Myles Sanders vs David Montgomery
Not to compare Sanders to Chubb just yet, but we also thought Chubb was in a really crowded room. It's crowded with a bunch of average or below average players. Not one of them has the profile of Sanders, not even Howard. I don't anticipate Sanders walking in as day 1, and maybe Howard keeps him at bay for a little while but it most likely won't take long.wickerkat1212 wrote: ↑Thu May 02, 2019 8:36 am I just feel like Sanders is in a really crowded backfield, RBBC. And while we think Montgomery's situation is great people also thought the same thing about Freeman, Henry, Penny, and they all get put at bay. It's not unlikely Davis/Cohen do that to Montgomery, and it's possible Howard does the same to Sanders. Except Howard can't catch, so Sanders probably gets some role regardless.

Re: Myles Sanders vs David Montgomery
I actually like Sanders better in talent and situation.
Philly drafted him hoping for a Zeke / Barkley type back.
Montgomery’s situation isn’t bad but Cohen is going to get the lions share of receptions and Trubisky has no issues running the ball. He is a better version of Howard and also has a back in Davis that the Bears obviously liked better.
It will be interesting to watch but RB talent wins out and Philly doesn’t really have anyone at RB with Sanders talent.

Agree. I think it's fair to argue that Chicago has better and more long-term competition for Montgomery than Philly does for Sanders. I like Sanders' talent and situation better than Montgomery's.Ice wrote: ↑Thu May 02, 2019 9:43 am I actually like Sanders better in talent and situation.

Re: Myles Sanders vs David Montgomery
True. Good points. I do think Howard in the right OFF and used properly is a top ten RB. I just think it's a tricky RBBC. I feel like Montgomery will get the early running downs, eating into Cohen's runs, but that Cohen will get his receptions, maybe even a few more. Both are interesting situations.Jason3123 wrote: ↑Thu May 02, 2019 8:57 amNot to compare Sanders to Chubb just yet, but we also thought Chubb was in a really crowded room. Re: Myles Sanders vs David Montgomery
I feel like Sanders is a trap.
I don't know why - just a gut feeling. I would not be comfortable drafting him with an early 1st where he is going.
Bold take, as usual by the OP - but I don't think it is incredibly far fetched.
The two are very different running backs, stylistically - so there is really no comparison but it will be interesting to see who ends up being the better fantasy back (which is what really matters).
For the record - I would not be comfortable drafting Montgomery with an early 1st either.
Rarely does it work out though..

Isn't that always the hope when teams draft a back with a three-down profile though?Ice wrote:Philly drafted him hoping for a Zeke / Barkley type back.

Maybe it's in dropping YPC annually is all I can think of.
2016 YPC 5.2
2017 YPC 4.1
2018 YPC 3.7

Re: Myles Sanders vs David Montgomery
Sanders > Montgomery because Cohen exists and will be in Chicago for a long time, presumably. And Davis isn't bad, either.
There's several things about Mont I like, particularly on the tape, but he needs to prove he's athletic enough for the NFL. It's worrisome that his disappointing workout scores are coupled with a very modest -- by collegiate standards -- 4.7 ypc average in college and noticeable lack of long runs.
Regardless, Howard will probably only affect Sanders' touch-share for one season.

You can't think of much, then; Howard has been top 10 in standard scoring two of his three career seasons.

Re: Myles Sanders vs David Montgomery
Let's hurry up and come to a conclusion. I got some drafts coming up with the 1.3 pick and I need to know which way to go. I don't want to make the wrong choice & be ostracized by the community. But I guess I could always ask the "Heeeelp I'm on the clock at 1.3, do I choose Sanders or Montgomery" question in the Dynasty Team Advice forum.....
