I've been trying various versions of this in a league I'm on the playoff border. Keep getting shot down. Good job closing the deal.

I broke down and paid a mid first for him. I kind of had to. I lost Sanders to injury, Bell to a trade, Gaskin to a bye week, and Ekeler to injury. I needed a RB, nothing on the WW, and there was only one team willing to trade. The only RB they had was Robinson and the only thing he would take was my first rounder.

I gave in. Can't complain with the results so far though. 5-2.
What are your impressions of his talent now that we've seen him in the NFL? Is he a guy you missed on in your rookie RB report, or someone you didn't scout?

Robinson is outproducing CEH;
A) Behind a way worse line.
B) With quarterbacks who resemble the inhabitants of the island of misfit toys. (minshew/luton/glennon) jesus christ.
C) With a coach who is on his last legs.
D) A defense that is 2nd worst in the league (KC's is middle of the pack).

In the spots where I have Robinson I'd want a mid first on top of CEH. Jags have 2 1sts, 2 2nds, and 2 4ths in the next draft. Incoming QB and coach could only be worse if it's Hue Jackson and he brings Johnny Manziel. I'm buying JR everywhere. Everywhere. Workhorse stud back will be a top 3 dynasty RB after next season.

Thanks for your opinion. I got him for a $0 bid on a team and I'm keeping him for a playoff run. I recognize the production, but I haven't had the opportunity to watch much of him myself. I'm considering a trade for him in another league. I'm just trying to figure out if this guy is going to be a long term starter or not. I can't imagine he hasn't earned at least another year.

I can see it for this year given the playoff match ups and obvious large payout.

Don't like it so much long term but it is all about winning and the risk/reward. My guess is the guy getting Robinson is a lock for the playoffs and looking at schedules.

The only thing he doesn't have is electric speed, which is one of the most overrated traits in NFL rbs anyways.
Hands, vision, strength, power, functional speed. He's a rich man's Chris Carson, and he's doing it with virtually no help on a tanking team.

How did this guy go undrafted? All those things you mentioned were on his college tape, to go along with incredible good production.

I mean, it was clearly the COVID year. Got to think if someone had given him a proper workout, they'd have seen he was ready to be a pro.

As it was, the Jags GM had him top of his board at the end of the draft, but thought he'd made a mistake and that he'd been long gone. It took his wife saying "how about that James Robinson guy" for him to actually pick up the phone and check...

Is there an echo in here? :think:
