Well, the injury in question happened after the draft. Seems pretty likely that it is related to the college neck injury though.
Ah. They haven't said what the injury is? Disc? Stress fracture? What region?
They have said it was a herniation, but didn't reveal the region which would be telling if it's related to the neck injury or not. Fixing a herniated disc really isn't a very big deal though. I'm no NFL player, but I suffered with one for 12 years before getting it surgically repaired and I've felt great ever since (8 years running).

Prior to surgery, there were weeks where I couldn't even stand up straight. My Neurosurgeon at the time said there was a 90% chance I'd never experience any issues in that area of my back again. This is likely bad for Williams short-term, but if he has a microdiscectomy (shaving away the part of the disc that's causing him nerve issues) he should be relatively good to go from there.

Aside from the obvious gimme that 200lb men hurtle themselves at his body with the intent to harm, there's virtually no way a lumbar or sacral injury could be related to a cervical injury.

(Ok there are some ways, but they don't exist in guys who have played contact sports for 8ish years).

Data point: Williams has been on the trade block in my main league since the announcement. Owner is asking for any 2018 1st. No takers. (Note: League even has multiple IR slots so he could be stashed.) I think people are legitimately very concerned about this.

I'd prefer the '18 1st

Man the Williams hate is REAL. The guy was a stud on tape and drafted high but everyone seems to be out on him. I get the back scare but no one would give an 18 1st ? I feel like the community is over reacting to this news. I believe he will play this year and once he puts up big numbers everyone will be back on the Williams train. Buy for a mid 1st all day !

Did you see the recent interview with Mike?
I'm too ashamed of any of my teams to post.

You can't just say this without adding the link or identify what important quotes he said...

Agreed^, seems like pre combine/draft, he was easily a top 4 prospect, most had him at 3....Gets drafted into a high potent offense with a qb who seems like a great fit for his skills and sinks somehow. Don't get it

Yeah...neither was I. He was on my "draft to trade" list. I slotted him at 7, but only to trade him...

You just listed my WR corps
Got all of them at quite the discount (White at 2.01, Perriman at 6.01 and Doctson at 3.05 in a 16 team keeper/dyno). If the other owners let Williams slide as well, I'm prepared to add another one of that sort. Hopefully some of them pan out soon though...
