Of course.

Which is why, if AOC is truly the next coming of TB12, he'll have no problem beating him out for backup duties to the new rookie.

And if he can't do that, then he wasn't meant to stick in the league anyway.

The funniest part here is still that the Raiders looked at both Fields and Minschew and decided Minschew was the better move.
Totally agree! I’m shaking my head
Minshew cost less money, and no draft capital. It is the better move. Fields isn't worth the money or capital. He's be a bridge QB, same as Minshew. The Raiders aren't going to get their franchise QB in a trade, or in FA. They are going to have to draft one, I wouldn't doubt if they take a QB in this draft, as well.

I mean, Mac Jones was traded for a 6th to serve as a backup.

I don't think it would have cost much draft capital to acquire Fields, given how bare (bear) his market has been.

You just committed to Minschew for 2 years 25 million, with 15 million gtd. 12.5 per year.

Fields' 4th year would have cost 6 mil against the cap, and 3 mil to the franchise itself. See for yourself.

Please explain to the class how that is "less money" per the bolded - both overall OR on a per year basis. Remember, they don't have to exercise the 5th year... he's just a bridge QB, right?

I love Minschew, but you can't tell me with a straight face that he's a more exciting option to present to the fanbase than Justin Fields.

We dont know what the Bears asking price was for Fields. If it was a second, I can see why everyone has passed. If the Raiders are rebuilding, why trade a 2nd for 1 year of Fields.
If any team was planning to trade for Fields to start, they'd have to figure out a multi year contract first, otherwise, what is the point?

Regarding the Raiders, Luke Getsy coached Fields the past few years. It's possible he wanted nothing to do with him and knew better than most.

I'd accept he's probably a better Pro to learn off of for a rookie.

Gonna be a pretty grim looking year in Vegas though, most likely. (But when is it not)

DA is so forcing a trade this time.

The Raiders already found their franchise QB in the draft.

There's only room for one mustache in Las Vegas, and it's name is Gardner.

Thanks.

Trading for Fields would be a 2 year move for a team, as they'd pick up his 5th year option, to give him 2 years. They'd likely do that, to see if he's the guy, for the pick they'd give up, it wouldn't likely be a 1 year rental. His cap hit next year is almost 26 million. So over 2 years, it's a little over 27 million for Fields.

Minshew for 2 years is slightly cheaper, cost zero draft capital, and is a fine bridge QB. He's certainly an upgrade from Jimmy G. He's also well liked by his teammates, wherever he goes.

Or at least that's the message he delivered in a rather unconventional but very Minshew kind of way on "The Green Light" podcast.

Funny.

Still going to be the backup QB, though. Maybe he can be the team's #1 comedian?

We know you're in shambles right now, and your AOC dreams are shattered. Ask yourself though, did you ever really believe he was going to be the long term guy in Vegas?
