Moving Cousins (Again)

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

I'd probably hold until the season kicks off and points are being scored and try to sell him for a lesser QB and a 1st from a contender.

Last year I moved Cousins pre-injury when he was lighting it up and a 3rd for Carr and a 2024 1st, as an example.
I'm trying to get this guy's 2.03 as I have the 2.02 + 2.04. He needs a QB and inquired.

Douglas is on my buy list.
Would you do Cousins for 2.03 + 2.11 + Douglas?
I would probably do it for 2.03/DD, but if you can get the 2.11 as well, awesome.

This is unbelievably cheap for a top 10 production-wise QB. The rookie fever has gone to your head. Two shots at a 25% success rate (2.11 may be less) and a guy with the upside of a WR4, for a high-end QB is not a deal you should even be considering. But hey, it's your team, will be fun to take a second look at this a year from now with names on those picks.

If I valued Cousins as a top 10 qb, I wouldn’t do it either. We differ greatly on “upside”.

Yeah, trying to figure out how it's worth it for me. 2.03 + Jakobi? IDK.

Cousins performed as a top 8 QB before getting injured last year. Slightly worse weapons in Atlanta, but in redraft leagues, I'm happy with him as my QB1 (Top 12). But alas, best of luck with those 6th round pick WRs... and dart throws in the 2nd. I'd need Christian Kirk and the 2.02 and even then I'd probably just hold until the season when he's producing and trade for a lesser QB (Baker, Carr, Levis, etc.) and a 2025 1st.

2.03 is a very good pick, pick #15. That's probably still an NFL first-round WR. I tend to hold onto players until it's too late. But yeah, just the 2.03 is not enough. And 2.03 + 2.11 isn't either. He wouldn't do it for 1.11. So...I may be stuck here.

How about his crazy offer—

I gives Cousins + Brian Robinson + Downs + 25 1st (early) + 25 2nd (early)
for
1.03 + 1.11 + 2.03 + 2.11 + 3 garbage FA WRs

I'd have 1.02, 1.03, 1.11, 2.02, 2.03, 2.04, 2.11

I don't think he'll go for it even though trade calculator says I lose this trade.
I could replace Cousins with Daniels, get Harrison at 2, etc.

No time like the present to rebuild right? I don't think he'll take it. He wants a young QB at 1.03.

This is the kind of trade that trade calculators get all wrong when not considering all factors.

We have an old(er) QB less than 12 months removed from a significant injury, going to a new team and system. A RB who just got competition that's still good enough to put him in a serious RBBC. A second-year WR whom very few are predicting will ever be as good as a consistent fantasy WR2 - likely a WR30-45 guy. And a random '25 1st.

On the other side, we have a prime pick at 1.03 and another 1st at 1.11. Then a very early 2nd AND a late 2nd. All these picks are this year.

That's a lot of upgrading to ask from basically Cousins and a random 1st next year. Frankly, I don't think this deal has a chance at being accepted, unless the other guy is brain dead. There is no scenario, no team build for the other guy, where I see him accepting this offer. Even if he's desperate for a QB, I'd rather keep the 1.03 and draft rookie QB2, than gamble on a old(er) Cousins coming off a serious injury on a new team.

I hope the "garbage receivers" are guys like MVS, Juju and Allen Robinson level garbage. It would be adding insult to injury if the garbage receivers are better receivers.

Good luck.

Yeah, I totally hear what you're saying and I agree. He will PROBABLY see it the same way. The garbage WRs are definitely guys like Robinson, all are FA WRs.

The only reason I think he MIGHT take it is if he really sees my picks as 1.02 and 2.02 and is okay tanking again this year to tear up the 2025 draft. But I don't think he feels that way.

If he gives you all those draft picks to go with the ones you already have, I doubt you'll earn your way to the 2025 1.02. I'd guess mid-round at worst and maybe even a playoff team. I'm sure he looks at it the same way.

Wishful thinking is fun, but I don't waste too much time on it. It's like dreaming of winning the lottery and creating wild strategies to win. It's not worth thinking about that much.

Yeah, he's new to our league so I'm trying to figure out how savvy he is. I'm probably asking for too much here. Would you do this same offer without the 1.03? That's the tricky part, I need that for a replacement QB, and he wants to keep that for a QB as well. So, I doubt he accepts this, but maybe it gets him thinking.
