Yeah, the Mike Davis ship has hit a naval mine. Montgomery is questionable athletically, but he's a polished runner with great instincts, and the Bears traded up for him. It's gonna be a camp battle.

Always a certain amount of coach speak, having said that I do like the landing spot, he would land in the 1.04 -1.07 range for me after 1st review of the draft today.

Exactly where I’ve got him. Mulling the 1.05 even aside from it being a homer pick.

if we left WRs out of conversation. Jacobs in tier himself, Sanders/Montgomery tier 2, I prefer Montgomery before draft, landing spots good for both players, I give slight edge to Montgomery

I have him at rb3, the wrs are what is holding me back on his ranking. Likely 3-4 of the 1st 2 round wrs are also in the top 7 conversion for me

I’m sorry but Montgomery isn’t even close to being in the same tier as Sanders. Montgomery averaged a whopping 4.7 YPC in a conference not known for their defenses. His combine was below average. The only thing he has going for him is where he landed. There is no way in hell I’m touching him until at least 1.05 and honestly I’d be looking to trade out of that pick.

I think Sanders has the higher potential, but the guy has to be able to stay on the field to show it and his fumble to carry ratio in his 1 season at Penn St was astounding.

They were no doubt drafting a RB but I thought it’d be round 4/5. Anyway Davis is an injury away from being a 15 touch guy.

I will respectably disagree, Montgomery was in poor situation at Iowa and had to create a lot of his own yards. He is not a superb athlete, but amazing after contact and have very good lateral moves . I view both as possible 3 downs back, and I was talking only about RBs , not including WRs class.

If the Bears run power, he'll do just fine.

I could have sworn that they wanted to run zone though, which is why they shipped off Jordan Howard.

They basically just got a smaller version of Jordan Howard.

So I don't get the draft pick, but maybe I'm wrong and they won't be making any changes to their offense. If that's the case, Montgomery will be somewhere in the RB13-18 range, max.

Throw everything you've seen, heard, read and studied out the door. It's post NFL Draft time and the majority of us get swept off our feet by landing spots.

Happens every year.

Well, if coach thinks he’s like Kareem Hunt I’m on board. Seems like he can catch pretty well too, which Howard did not.

Can be a good back but with Cohen in town i think he will have a limit upside in the passing game

Small rbs never last. With Cohen coming in at a whopping 5’8” 180 lbs, Montgomery can flourish. With all the Jordan howard hate, he still managed to volume a slew of 1k seasons. I’ll take Montgomery in that role.
