How did the defense let Diggs get so wide open for that interception?

This game should be rated R. Just real sick and depraved stuff going on right now.

Because they're locked into Wentz for another 2 years with no cap-relief possible.

They're in a glass cage of emotion is what I'm trying to say.
I read a piece this week to this effect; that essentially Wentz’s contract makes benching him very difficult and that unless Hurts lights the world on fire going with him can only end badly.

I just can’t imagine things being any worse than they are now.
https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/cap/2021/

Eagles are 31st in 2021 projected cap space at -$63.5M

30th Atlanta: -$25M
32nd Saints: -$95M

So ya, they can't afford to bench his contract or the dead cap hits that would come with cutting or trading him. They're stuck with him for better or worse.

I'm now rooting for the Washington Football team to take the NFC east. Would be rad for Alex Smith make a push in the playoffs & win comeback player of the year.

Again with the 4th down call. Kick the FG and go down 1 score! Your D is playing well, what the heck are you doing? Pedersen thinks he's Schumacher driving a Ferrari but he's not even Super Mario driving a Lada.

I get that they can’t cut him but that doesn’t mean they couldn’t bench him for the 2nd round QB they drafted on a rookie contract

There are 2 possibilities.

1) Pedersen has seen him in practice and know he's worse than Wentz and that the issues go far beyond just the QB. (Likely)
2) Pedersen is trying to lose and get himself fired. (Less likely)

Having said that, after watching the Eagles fairly closely this year it's apparent to me that he's doing a terrible coaching job.

1 month ago a leaguemate came to me on my rebuilding team and offered me Dak AND 2nd for Wentz + McKissic + 5th. I had to read the offer 3x because I didn’t believe it, but he wanted to make a run in 2020. Poor guy.

My personal theory is that this has almost nothing to do with Hurts and everything to do with Wentz contract. Since he’ll be on the team a minimum one more year and the team isn’t going anywhere there’s no reason to risk hurts development/health by putting him behind their line with limited weapons.

Now next year, if this continues, I’d expect them to turn to Hurts by mid season.

I'd agree with that. Can the Eagles cut Wentz in 2022?

Miles Sanders usage tonight was pitiful. Pretty sure Scott outsnapped him for no reason.

Yes they can, it will still be a fairly significant cap hit, but it won't be catastrophic like it would be in 2021.

Decent breakdown in this article. I can't get his Spotrac page to load for some reason with the full details.

Dead cap hit in 2021 is $60M but falls to $39.5M in 2022. Seems very steep but I think if he doesn’t improve and they want to try Hurts they will make the switch in 2021 with the intention of cutting Wentz in 2022 while swallowing the hit

My take on the situation is that Wentz is a more physically gifted version of Kirk Cousin but with a worse contract ... for what ever reason the Eagles & Vikings invested money into imperfect QBs but never adapted to compensate for their QB’s inadequacies.

Coming off 2017, Carson looked like a lot more than a more athletic Cousins. He was the MVP of the league before the injury, and the front office figured QB contracts were only going to increase over the years, so they wanted to lock him in before the market value went up.
