Forsett vs 1.13

Postby johnyo » Fri Apr 03, 2015 2:31 pm

For the team in my sig, which would you rather have?

I think Forsett will have another good year and Rbs are slim pickings in a 16 team league, so I am definitely leaning towards keeping him here. But I was discussing this with a buddy who thinks I'm crazy, so I am looking for other opinions.

You don't have much behind Hyde and I think that is being nice. I think you are looking good for a 16 team league and wouldn't judge you for keeping Forsett. My only concern would be if the Ravens use an early pick on a back but I think you will be safe as they are currently a wasteland at WR.

Did a trade where I got 1.13 for Forsett and we swapped second rounders (other team's advantage), so I think is about the right value.

1.13
You will be feeling awful next month when they draft yeldon or abdullah.
Sure Forsett was great last year but that won't stop a team from drafting someone even younger/better.
Stacy and Gio owners thought they were safe last year and then the draft happened

Chose forsett. He's going into the season as the top RB on a Trestman offense. Even if they draft a RB he's going to at least be the passing down back and get plenty of touches. The 1.13 isn't a guarantee of anything. You already have a first rounder, use it on a RB and that way you'll have some extra depth and not rely too heavily on two unknown rooks.

This is perfectly in-line with how the Raiders think. Preferring washed-up vets over young assets.

Forsett's season was a miracle last year. A statistical anomaly. Highly unlikely to come close to repeating this season. At most, you get one last productive season.

You don't know what the 1.13 will turn into. It's a crap shoot. But Forsett will for sure be valueless in 2016. And likely not worth much in 2015, after the draft.

If you can compete this year maybe try to ride out Forsett, but 1.13 is about as high as you can get for him so youll never be able to cash out better than now. His value will take a hit after the draft, I am just hoping for my team that he still stays productive, theres still a high chance he will have a good amount of touches espec as 3rd down, cop at the worst. Im still thining a top 25 finish in points, so at least a flex play I''d think. Trestman throws to rbs so if a guy they bring in isnt great at rec than he'll still be worth having. Just know itll never be a better time to sell high obviously.

This is what I'm scared of but Baltimore is hurting at WR even more than RB, even if they won't admit it. Today when Biscotti said they don't need a WR... sounds to me like a pathetic attempt to pretend they want TEs to hide their real intentions to go WR at the top. In which case, they wouldn't get around to picking a RB till after WR and defense maybe... so their pick 90, 122... who knows. Just giving me pause.

On the other hand, just traded some 1sts and Bridgewater for McCoy, helping my RB situation a bit, so not quite as desperate for a RB.

Have 12 more hours to decide before I have to accept or decline the RFA tag.

Angry much? Raiders are a mismanaged franchise, no doubt.

Forsett had a 5.3 ypc over 230+ carries. He gained the trust of his coaches and his teammates. He's going to play. If he changed teams I wouldn't be as high on him but he's staying in B with a new coordinator who throws the ball to his RBs a lot. Ozzie Newsome values D and rarely trades up. He's a system guy. Sure they'll draft a RB, but it won't be one of the top 7 or 8 ranked RBs. When you draft your fantasy players based on the team they're on instead of the talent they've got you end up with a team of Balls and Sankey's (assume you're fine with the former). I'm guessing Baltimore drafts a day 3 player unless some of the other RBs in the draft slip and the grade matches the opportunity.

The point for OPs team is to win now. Picking up a handcuff or another rookie that's going to sit on his bench isn't going to help unless the right circumstances play out.

I don't think they have to spend a 1st-2nd round pick in this deep RB draft to kill Forsett's value. I could see them taking a 3rd-4th round guy (think Tre Mason-type) and they would likely be good enough to pass Forsett up within the year (or at least kill Justin's market value). They have five picks in the first four rounds this year (they acquired an extra 4th from Detroit in the Ngata deal).

I just think now is a good time to sell and a horrible time to buy. He is currently 29 but will turn 30 early this season, so even if he produces this year his value will drastically drop next year when he'll be a 30 year old RB entering his age 31 season and no longstanding track record of success. This is all IF he avoids being replaced in this draft, and then AGAIN avoids being replaced during the draft next year. Guys like Lynch/Forte/Adrian Peterson are being traded for mid-late 1sts right now and come with much less risk, so if I were to invest a top 15 pick in a rental RB I wouldn't be looking at Forsett (even though I like his game). There is too great of a chance you essentially end up trading the back up straight up for the starter (think people trading a 2nd for Hakeem Nicks last year and then watching that owner use the pick on Donte Moncrief)
