Arian Foster value

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Arian Foster value

Postby auggiedoggies » Thu Dec 04, 2014 2:06 pm

What's the most you're willing to pay for Foster if you're a contender? Mid 2nd? Right now in a 16 team, start 1 RB league where i have nothing at rb, i have an offer of giving up my hopefully late 1st for Foster and an early 3rd. I'm not going to do this, but I'm trying to see if my valuation is off. He asked for a 1st straight up, I countered with a 2nd straight up (which I even felt was an overpay), he re countered with this. Thoughts?

I think you are undervaluing Foster a bit to be honest. I get that he is a bit untrustworthy from a health perspective but when he plays he is about as reliable of a 20+ppg RB there is in the league.
If I were making a run and I thought he was going to be healthy down the stretch I would give up a late 1st and not regret it much. I think he and Lynch hold pretty much the same value to me. Both have question marks beyond this season but if both are going to play down the stretch I can't think of more than 3 or 4 guys I would want more and they are easily the cheapest of those options.

I would put Foster worth a late first. The injury concerns are worrying but when he plays he is a top 3 RB. Maybe even #1.

I'd do that in a heartbeat. Late first for Foster plus getting a third back. Sign me up if I'm a legit contender.

Mid 2nd isn't even close to touching Foster as a Foster owner.

The guy just turned 28 and is a top 3 fantasy back in the league when he plays.

Talk about injuries and soft tissue injuries, look at Gore who is still a solid back at 31-1/2.

I would be happy to give up a 1st if Foster made a legit contender for the title.

I just traded Foster away a few weeks back to a legit contender, I was well out of it already.

I was offered a top-5 pick for him at the trade deadline and rejected it. I probably would've gained "value" but RBs that give you 20+ PPG don't come around all that often. He's a great piece for a contending team.

A 1st bare minimum for Foster in a 16 team league. He's worth at least a 1st in a 12 team league. Mid 2nd in a 16 teamer is a borderline 3rd round pick in 12 team league. That's flier prices, not RB1 prices. I know Foster is getting older and has the injury issues, but that's already cooked into his price. Foster's production is worth 3 1sts if he's 26 with no injury concerns. He's the RB1 in PPR on a PPG basis.

I gave Mason/Michael/2nd/3rd for Foster a month or so ago. Right before Mason starting breaking out. I paid full price no doubt, but as a contender I'm still happy to have done the deal.

Piling on, you are horribly undervaluing foster. He's worth a late first at the very least. I gave up a late 1st and cpatt for him this year and am sitting in the playoffs with a giant smile on my face.

Personally, I value him highly right now, before the playoffs. He could have helped me. Over the summer, his value falls off for me.

i realize why you are all puttimg that value on him. i also think there's a chance they shut him down for the season. there is no need to risk anything for their organization and they may want to see what blue can do over the last few games.

i by no means am disagreeing that a noncontending owner would want a 1st, but if im paying that, i would look around to see who else may be available, at what expense.

Ok, well it's obvious that I was severely undervaluing Foster. This is good to know...thanks all! Seems like it was a case of me unintentionally undervaluing him because I'm trying to trade for him. I appreciate you all setting me straight!
