Trade Earl Thomas?

Postby SpaderDude » Sat Nov 02, 2013 8:52 pm

55-man, IDP with multiple flex spots.

3pts. per tackle, 6pts. per INT & sacks, 1pt. per assist, 2 pts. per pass deflected.

We also start 2QB/2TE.

Was offered Antrel Role and a 2014, 1st (figures to be high-to-mid range) in exchange for Earl Thomas.
In this format ET is the 13th overall scorer in the league @ 26 ppg.(S2)
Role is (S10) @ 18ppg.

My other safeties are TJ Ward (S3) & Eric Reid (S15). In this format, does the high 1st warrant a trade of Thomas or is Thomas a foundation piece to build around? New to IDP. Thanks for the feedback.

I'm 6-2 and tied for division lead despite having no bye-week QB and limited at TE.

I would do it. He's a great safety but DB's go up and down in value all the time.

I recently completed quite a large trade where Earl Thomas was a the deciding factor for me. That being said I made the trade because I was trying to win now. Earl Thomas had an extremely down fantasy year in 2012, he was also voted to the pro-bowl (so it clearly wasn't a down NFL year). It's almost impossible to project how defensive back scoring be from year to year. So when if I was thinking about next year (i.e if he was a foundation player) I would definitely take this trade. If you're serious contender a first round pick would not be enough to get me to trade Thomas. A first round pick will do nothing to help you win now. Making a championship run is extremely difficult, all the chips have to fall right. If you're able to start both Thomas and Ward you have a significant advantage every week.

I hope that was helpful

My answer would depend upon how many teams in this league and starting requirements. In a vacuum, I take Rolle and the 1st.

12 teams

25 starting roster spots. 11 offense. 1 KR. 13 IDP spots.

1-2 DTs
2-3 DE
3-5 LBs
2-3 CB
2-3 S

So, basically DB scoring fluctuates big-time? I am currently leading my division 7-2 & I'm the highest scoring team in the league. I'm torn here cuz I have no idea how to value defensive guys at this point. I just know that this year in this format, Thomas is the now the 7th overall scorer after last weeks game.

EDIT: If it makes any difference, I just dropped Brandon Taylor and picked up Tyvon Branch (just got dropped). So, I now have Thomas, Ward, Reid, Whitner, and Branch on roster.
