Trading for Gronk

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Trading for Gronk

Postby slaughterrt » Sun Oct 27, 2013 8:06 am

For the 10 teamer in my signature. Gronk owner has one win this year and is hurting for players. He is obvious rebuild mode. Is this an insulting offer? Keep in mind that he is hurting at WR and RB as well.

I send Kyle Rudolph, Antonio Brown, and Marcus Lattimore

I receive Gronk

Is this laughable as an initial offer? Haven't sent the offer yet but just let the owner know I was interested in Gronk via email.

Is it fair for me? Am I giving too much future production?

no way i would move gronk for that in a 10 team league. the other owner may be fed up with waiting on gronk and move him, but personally would find that offer kind of insulting. rudolph to gronk is huge imo, latty may not have much of a future with his injury history, and i like brown, but i dont believe he will ever be elite.

I wouldn't give Gronk up for that pile of garbage. But maybe he is one of the Lattimore true believers. I'd expect you don't even get a response to that...need to step it up seriously if you want a game changing difference maker at TE.

His team (minus the IDPs and kickers)

QUARTERBACKS INTEREST
Robert Griffin III, Wsh QB
Sam Bradford*, StL QB
Josh Freeman*, Min QB OTB

RUNNING BACKS
DeAngelo Williams, Car RB OTB
Pierre Thomas, NO RB
Daniel Thomas, Mia RB OTB
DeMarco Murray*, Dal RB U
Robert Turbin, Sea RB OTB
Cyrus Gray, KC RB
Johnathan Franklin, GB RB U
Kenjon Barner, Car RB

RECEIVERS
Stephen Hill, NYJ WR OTB
Golden Tate, Sea WR OTB
Greg Olsen, Car TE OTB
Rob Gronkowski, NE TE U
Michael Crabtree*, SF WR OTB
DeAndre Hopkins, Hou WR U
Tyler Eifert, Cin TE U
Aaron Dobson, NE WR
Keenan Allen, SD WR U
Quinton Patton*, SF WR U
Julian Edelman, NE WR

His team is very young and is in rebuild mode. I am not sure if he would trade Gronk or build around him. I am making a title run this year and am nervous starting Rudolph. What more would you think it would take to get Gronk seeing as he is just wasting his talent.

I agree you will have to give up alot more to get Gronk from most owners. To acquire Gronk it will usually take a premium/elite type player +. He would have to really like all three players for that to get very far.
Gronk is young enough 'rebuilding' teams shouldn't feel a great urgency to cash out on him.

Yeah, I don't know if I necessarily need to go after Gronk. My biggest team weakness is TE and I would love to trade for one but I don't wanna cripple my team as I see it as a contender. Rudolph has been hit and miss with that QB carousel that is Minnesota. I grabbed the TB TE Wright who has has success with Glennon. Would love to improve my TE situation but there are few TEs that I would target. Gronk is probably the best target due to team. One owner has Graham and Cameron but I doubt I get either (anyone have thoughts on Cameron being a stud?)

I think you'd have a better chance at landing Gronk if you swapped brown for Gordan. If you're not willing to go that far I'd look tom acquire Jordan Reed.

In a 2 TE league, I essentially traded Reggie Bush, Gio Bernard, Kyle Rudolph, and Jordan Cameron for Gronk and T Rich. I don't know if this will help much, but hopefully can give you some perspective of what I gave up to get him (and T-Rich). Since I own Graham, my goal the whole time since the league started was to have Gronk and Graham as my 2 TE's, I will never trade either of them now!

Good luck!

Cameron looks to be the real deal to me.
I like him and it won't hurt when CLE gets a better QB...or even Hoyer back

I think your initial offer was a bit low, but not insulting. It really depends on the other owner's opinion, as most of these players are pretty polarizing. Some people think Rudolph is going to be a top 5 TE once he gets a decent QB. And some think that Lattimore will be amazing once he recovers from his knee. Others are way down on those 2. And opinions on Gronk are all over the place. Personally, I think he's way overvalued. He's great, but in dynasty I'd be concerned about how long he can keep this up with all the injuries. I think Brown pretty much is what he is.

So you trade a bunch of ifs and buts for a guy who averages a TD per game over multiple seasons. That's why its not even close. He's one of the few difference makers that gives you a week-to-week advantage over your opponent and helps you win championships.
