WR1 vs RB1 Trade

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

WR1 vs RB1 Trade

Postby Flanpire » Fri Sep 20, 2013 9:31 am

It seems easier to build around WR's than RB's. I'm in 5th year of dynasty league (keep 12). League just added .5PPR. I drafted long ago based on RB but have done well w/ WR's and w/ 6th pick in draft was forced to take Tavon Austin, who seemingly, is a stud. I've been offered trade of Shady McCoy for AJ Green & Blackmon. Team below.
I'm concerned about RB depth (esp w/ injuries last year and every year w/McFadden). I'm leaning twd accepting esp since 10 team league and plenty of potential WR on waiver wire. Talk me out of it? Thanks!

LeShean McCoy for AJ Green & Blackmon - (Do or not to do?)

10 Team (5th year), .5PPR, Start 2RB's, 2WR's, 1WR/TE, 1RB/WR Flex, 1TE, DST, K
My RB's McFadden, MJD, Rice, Christian Michael, Bryce Brown
My WR's AJGreen, TAustin, Garcon, Wayne, Miles Austin, Britt, Blackmon
My TE's Vernon Davis, Jared Cook
MY QB's Rodgers, Vick

first thing you do is learn to spell lesean correctly, then you pass on the trade. ajg=mccoy

Ya and then you really hurt yourself at WR. You need AJG. Hold easily.

Someone trying a bit too high on Shady.

Yea you shouldn't do this trade. If its a swap of shady for AJG that's one thing, but no way either side should add anything else.

You can usually find WRs on the waiver wire, but u don't find AJG type players on the WW.

I found Victor Cruz on the waiver wire. Its unusual, but it can happen.

that's the exception, and you can't bank on finding the next Cruz to justify making a trade. Jamal Charles was also a WW pickup at one point, so it can go either way. I guess my point is, work within the "rules" and rejoice when you do something that's the exception.

Oh hell no. I will always land on the side of WRs for longevity and consistency.

4WR: Cooper, Ridley, T. Hill, Slayton, Pittman, Westbrook
2TE: Ertz, Gesicki, Hurst, Everett

This.

Take the elite young WR over the RB. These guys are both 25, so we're talking 3-4 years of expected high level productivity from Shady vs 7-8 from Green. I'm an Eagles homer, and Shady is the man, but I'd rather build with AJG.
Team 1: (20 man rosters)
10 team, negative 0.1 pt per pass, rush, reception. (1 QB / 2 RB / 3 WR / 1 TE / 1 K / 1 DEF)

QB: Jackson, Geno
RB: McCaffrey, Mixon, Ekeler, Foreman, Patterson
WR: Hill, Wilson, Deebo, Allen, Jeudy, Meyers, Zay Jones, OBJ
TE: Hockenson
K: Dicker
Def: SF, Phi, Dallas

2023: 1.07

Team 2: (18 man rosters)
10 team, 0.5 PPR, 6 pt passing TD (1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 2 WR/RB, 1 TE, K, Def)

Qb: Jackson, Cousins, Lance
RB: Taylor, Fournette, Gibson, Patterson, Gaskin, Elijah Mitchell
WR: Jefferson, AJ Brown, DJM, Lamb, Rondale Moore
TE: Kelce
Def: Cin

Team 3:
12 Team PPR SF/1.5 TE Premium (QB-2RB-3WR-2RB/WR/TE flex, 1 superflex)
QB: Jackson, Prescott, Lawrence
RB: Taylor, Swift, Henry, Hall, Patterson, Wilson, Burkhead, Ingram
WR: Adams, Lamb, A-Rob, JuJu, Calloway, Berrios,
TE: Kittle, Gesicki, Gronk, McBride, Hurst, Jonnu
2023: 2nd, 2nd
2024: 3,4

Cruz is no AJG, not even really close--Cruz is a product of the system in NY-along with all the other WR there and came from there.

I'd avoid this trade. AJG is one of the best players you can have if you're in rebuilding mode because he's one of the most likely to still be producing 8 years down the road. Shady is fantastic but RBs are lucky to last till they're 30. Given that it's 0.5PPR it's altogether likely that AGJ will give you twice as many fantasty points over the next decade as Shady.
