10 teamer whats 2013 1.1 worth in a trade down?

Postby hamburglar » Sat Apr 06, 2013 11:28 am

Lets say 1.3-1.6 range? Obviously the father back the more its worth.

I think I prefer that part of this years draft. Is a move from say 1.1 to 1.4 or 1.5 worth a 2014 1st too?

I suppose this question will have a clearer answer in a few weeks after the NFL draft decides where Lacy and Gio land... but I'm curious IF you were dealing now, what would you expect a trade down to fetch?

Man, it's really too hard to say without knowing landing spots. I could say, no, I draw the line at 1.03 for Lacy, Austin and Patterson, but then if Hunter goes to the Lions and Allen ends up on the Pats, and Bernard ends up in GB, well, now I'd gladly trade down from 1.01 to 1.06.

It's a unique year regarding the 1.1, anyone expecting a kings ransom for that pick may as well just settle in and choose a prospect because nobody is going to be in a huge rush to get that pick. I'd take 1.6 and a future 1st for my 1.1 maybe, but being that if you do own the 1st pick you own all the cards so wait it out. It only takes a few interesting/surprising landing spots for somebody to feel they HAVE to get an early pick and you may get the best offers while you're OTC.

It all depends on what situation you're team is in, and what you're expecting out of that pick. If I traded for it on a stacked team with good depth, Patterson would be a great swing for the fence pick. If I NEED a RB I'd probably rather take Lacy then any other option. If you have a bunch of holes, then multiple mid-late 1st are better then the 1.1 this year.

I'd want a fair amount because Lacy is the only prospect I don't have questions about. If I could get a top-6 pick and a 2014 first, I'd move back. But less than that, I'd just pick with the 1.01.

Keep the 1.01. There is no elite super stud, so you won't see the typical interest in it. Plus, you are just trading back to get a player with more questions. I'd rather have the guy with less questions to increase your odds of hitting.

I would look to deal the 1.01 this year and would be really happy with a pick in the 1.04-1.06 range plus a 14 1st, but would accept a youngster I like and a 14 1st then moving to the early 2nd as well.

The answer for me comes in the size of the league. In a smaller league, like a ten teamer, my goal would be to land as many studs as I could, because there is always gonna be talent on the waiver wire, so why clutter my roster with players when I can go to free agency to land someone of similar talent? So carry as many studs as you can on your team.

So anyway, a good way to get studs is to pick at 1.01. So I guess I would value the 1.01 pretty heavily in a ten team league.

That being said - I would package the 1.01 in a deal that landed me a stud. That is the best use when trading it. Trading down to 1.04 just does not seem like value to me, since you are probably getting a WR2 or RB3 coming back your way along with the pick. Thus, your roster is cluttered with a pair of marginal players when you could have the one stud from the 1.01 pick.

I would be moving down if I could, especially if I could stay in that top 5-6. I don't think Lacey is your typical 1.01 type rookie, he just happens to be the "cleanest" fantasy prospect right now to many. That could change depending on how the draft goes, but the main point is that he's not up to the level of quality that 1.01 usually gets you, so if someone in your league thinks that he is, then get a deal done.

I would definitely take 1.01 + 1.04 + 2014 1st if that was the best offer.
