Possible Trade

Postby PackFan1 » Sat Apr 21, 2012 7:56 pm

I am trying to work a trade to get Larry Fitzgerald. Which side of this deal do you like better?
Give: Colston (2 year, $8, 10 mil) contract and 1.05
Get: Larry Fitz (2 year 16, 14 mil) and 1.08

1.05 and 1.08 have the same contract: 4 year 2,2,3,4
If he wouldn't bite on the offer, would it still be worth it for me to take 1.11 instead of 1.08? 1.11 is 4 year 1,1,2,3 contract.
I do have the cap space to absorb Fitz's higher contract, though it might but a crimp in my FA acquisition plans.

Thanks!

I prefer the Fitz end of the deal. If I was really working for Fitz, I would take the 1.11 in the trade if necessary. But you said Fitz could affect your FA plans and I think yuou need some help at RB this offseason so I'd be more concerned about that than an upgrade at WR.

I think you are going to need to make a stronger offer than that. I wouldn't give you Fitz regardless of which pick you were asking for in return. I'm not sure I'd take Colston/1.05 straight up for Fitz.

What's your cap? I'm not sure I'd do it with your RBs. Fitz is great but you might need to suck it up and use the cash + 1.05 on RBs.

Cap is 120 million, I currently have about 23 mil in cap space for this year. I know I desperately need RB, the problem I have with them is they are such a crap shoot and often very expensive. You either have a clear top stud (Foster, Rice, Mccoy, etc) or you have a guy that could be worthless at any time ( a bit of exaggeration, but you get the point). How much cash would devote to FA rb's?

It would really depend on who's available. With Green and Colston you might be fine at WR, especially if Meachem/Hankerson breaks out, and maybe you can add Floyd in the draft. If that extra $8 can help you acquire somebody that you can start every week at RB, then I don't think you can make this deal. And I LOVE Fitzgerald.

I like the deal for you - in Salary, I'd much rather commit money to receivers than RB's (I agree, RB's can be a crapshoot - Shonn Greene went for 18% of our cap 2 off seasons ago - crippled that team) - with 12M left after this deal and your draft pick I think you could get a decent RB.

That being said, I'm not sure you have enough on the table - I'd start it with the 11 in return and be prepared remove it.
Salary Cap League - 14 team, 21 man roster, 60 M Cap, 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1DEF, 1K Non-PPR, 4pt TD - 7M in Cap Space
QB - Newton 1 Mil x 2 Years, Palmer (3,2)
RB - Spiller (4,2), Mathews (5, 2), Lynch (3, 1), D Wilson (2, 4), T Jones (0, 1)
WR - Nicks (6,2), G Jennings (9,2), Fitzgerald (10,4) Torrey Smith (1, 3), James Jones (1,1)
TE - F Davis (3,4) Kendricks (1,2)
DEF - Green Bay (1,1)
2013 Picks - 1.x

DLF Premium Invitational League
QB - Romo, Locker, Flynn, Hassleback
RB - Lynch, Ingram, Tate, Hunter, Ridley, Tolbert, McKnight
WR - Nicks, Colston, Floyd, Wright, Holmes, Moore
TE - Gronk, Rudolph, Bennett, Daniels
2013 Rookie Picks - 2 - 1.x, 4 - 2.x
