J.Love for 1.01

Postby ravn88 » Thu May 02, 2024 8:27 am

Heey.

I'm about to land J.Love in a trade, and was wondering.

Who would you like in dynasty SF 14 teams.

Caleb Williams or J.Love.
The owner of 1.01 said he would think about it.

I get the Caleb hype. I really do. And I'm a Love truther. I really am.

From week 10 on, Love was anywhere from QB2-QB5 depening on scoring systems, etc. Even if we all agree that Caleb has a higher ceiling, how much higher is the ceiling than what Love showed the back half of 2023? I know the arguments: we can't predict a career from half a season. And I fully agree. But neither can we predict a career for a player who has yet to play any NFL snap.

I love what Chicago did in the off-season to surround Caleb with talent and put him in a position to succeed. And we have *no* idea if the players and coaching staff and Caleb himself will succeed. We've seen it work for the Packers and Love.

If Caleb were to play from week 10 on in 2024 the way that Love played in week 10 on in 2023, we'd be doing ecstatic backflips. And it's quite reasonable that Williams (and/or the Bears) simply won't be that good.

I'm not sure why we'd give up the production and talent we have in Love for Williams who's range of outcomes doesn't really include a much higher ceiling and does include a much lower floor and/or simply a greater probability of simply not being as productive as Love.

Four years younger. Better contract situation. Better surrounding talent. More commitment from current administration.

Basically, it's all the same reasons that I'd prefer Jordan Love to, say, Dak Prescott, who had an even better finish (QB1-QB3 from week 10 on) to last season.

Fair offer. I'm on Love, because I've seen it, and I like the organizational stability more.

I also would push back a little bit on the idea Caleb has a higher ceiling. I am not so sure about that. What Love did as a year 1 starter, and the throws he made, shows a pretty high ceiling.

I would take a shot on Caleb, but IMO, Love value is ~ 1.02.
I'd probably rather have Love than QB2 in this draft class.

I think it might depend. If you're a championship contender this year, I can see Love. Otherwise, the youth of Caleb has the edge for me.

I'm surprised people would even be on the "probably" side. After seeing T Law's class, and how hit and miss QB's are, I'd for sure take Love over Daniels, Maye etc etc.

I'd honestly want a first on top of 1.02, right or wrong, to consider moving Love for 1.02. A bird in the hand.

If I was contending, I'd take Love as the safer play. But let's be real, at 1.01 you probably aren't talking about contending teams, so I can absolutely see the appeal of taking the younger better talent, which is Williams.

I don't think there is a wrong answer here. Love gives you a better known asset. Caleb is an unknown. The biggest advantage that Caleb has is his own contract situation. Bears will be able to put better assets around him over the next 3-4 years and he already is tied to Odunze for the next 5.

I would go with Caleb personally because I think even if he has a bad season he'll still have decent value. I'm not sure I can say the same about love.
