McBride+ or Tank + 2024 1.06

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

McBride+ or Tank + 2024 1.06

Postby Gazzerk » Thu Apr 11, 2024 8:20 am

1QB 14 team in sig. Non TE premium but shallow starting requirements giving TE a nice value boost. Tank owner has wanted McBride for awhile now. A few months ago I offered McBride for Tank and his 1.06. I figured he wouldn’t bite on that and I was fine with that. I’m very high on McBride and maybe a little low on Tank given his size.

The Tank owner circled back around and limped into conversations again. I told him the price is still Tank and 1.06 knowing he has soured a bit on Tank after the Diggs deal. He actually responded completely differently and just said he would need a bit more back to do it. I’ve made a few deals with this owner. Once he seems open to a deal, he is pretty easy to work with.

I have Andrews and there is a very good chance I’d be taking Bowers with the 1.04 since this deal would give me the 1.06 on top of my 1.04 +1.07.

My questions here would be:
1) Tank and 1.06 for McBride+ is a great return that I probably have to take right? Assuming that + is my 2.09 or ideally 3.06.
2) what would you add to McBride here? Would 2.09 or 3.06 be a comfortable add to get this done?
3) Am I dumb to be worried about Tank long term with his size? His serious injury really was only due to a moronic coaching decision to have him out there in a formation he had no business being a part of. Thoughts?

1. Like you said this is very shallow with 7 starters so while that looks good on paper are you getting back a guy you want to be starting for the next many years? Value wise you win but only starting 2 wr + flex is very shallow these days, starting 28-42 WRs, so I’d have a hard time pulling the trigger.

3. Plenty of reasons to worry about dell, injury concerns, size concerns, teams having tape on him now and maybe finding ways to press him/defend him differently. I think that’s baked into the price you’re getting here though if you like him.

Haha it’s not locked in by any means and is landing spot dependent but I am very high on Bowers. I personally see him as one of the best prospects we’ve seen in the past 10 years and I don’t just mean at TE. I’ll gladly take him over most players past the top 3 WRs. Everyone else has their issues and red flags and I really don’t see any with Bowers.

1. Yes, that's a great get for McBride (who I'm not high on as a TE1) and a dart throw 2nd or 3rd for the 1.06. (Dell is a throw in to me in this deal and I would immediately flip him.)

2. If the 2.09 gets this done, then fine. I wouldn't go any higher than that, though.

3. No. I'm worried about Dell long-term because he's a toothpick. D. Smith is in the same boat and I am curious to see how he holds up in this new NFL.

I wouldn't focus too much on where his 'serious injury' came from since he didn't even make it through a whole season. How a player misses games doesn't matter too much to me; they still get zero points sitting on the shelf.

I recently completed the following in a 16 team TEP (so not apples to apples, as TE more valuable here):

Side 1: McBride
Side 2: Dell + Otton + 2.03 + 3.01

Use that information how you wish. I was happy to close it.

As long as the + is no more than you're suggesting, I want the Tank/1.06 side. There will be a very interesting player at 1.06 - just not sure who it is quite yet.
