Chargers probably won’t trade up for them to do that, but as you said, there are reports of them possibly trading down. I could see a scenario where IF the Pats happen to love McCarthy they go from 3 to 11, and back up to 5. Get their guy and a little extra for their hassle. I’d argue if you love a QB that you should just take them when available in the first place, but who knows.
History has a funny way of repeating itself.
2021: SF from 12 to 3. Miami from 3 to 12 to 6.
2024: not exactly the same picks, but very similar.
Again, not saying I think it’s likely, but I could see why Was/NE would do it and could still get “their guy”. Big if on who their guy is though.
