Pitts vs Kelce as a contender

Postby Mr. Wizard » Mon Feb 26, 2024 4:00 pm

I won this last season and am angling for a repeat with an aging roster (Team A in sig). Lots of older pieces like Saquon, Henry, Tyreek, and Kupp, though guys like Mahomes, Burrow, Gibbs, Chase, Aiyuk etc should keep me relevant once they age out.

I’ve got an offer of Kelce for my Pitts, straight up. Think this is worthwhile to ride the Mahomes/Kelce stack for however long it has left? Obviously Pitts is the better long term asset unless he truly just never hits the way we hoped, but is there still some more juice to be squeezed from Kelce as I angle to win another in the next year or two?

No question Kelce is the better win now piece. With retirement a yearly ? though, I'd need something on top to send Pitts packing personally.

I decided to pull the trigger and ended up getting a mid-2 in exchange for also throwing in a mid-3 and Freiermuth. I don't really care about Freiermuth, so functionally I moved up a round.

May still turn out to be light, but the siren song of the Mahomes/Kelce stack got me. Here's hoping they add another good weapon to take some pressure off him.

Would have absolutely not shipped Freiermuth for nothing. He's had two productive seasons and one awful one. But so is the life of a TE.

Personally, I'd stick with Pitts, as Kelce had a very strange season in 2023, and may be nearing the end.
In weeks 1-7, Kelce was his same old self, averaging 20.8 PPR PPG and was the TE1.
However, in weeks 8-18, Kelce was TE11, averaging 10.5 PPR PPG.

So, was it the dating Taylor Swift that was draining him, or age setting in?
Either way, Kelce will be turning 35 years old early in the 2024 season, and I think the Chiefs will continue to limit his usage, in hopes that he can again provide them with a playoff push.

This will hurt his fantasy value, and it looks as if you have enough of an age issue on your team right now.

Pitts is average for fantasy. Talk of using him more in the run game. QB unknowns and they just drafted Bijan, the ‘generational’ talent from last year-gotta use him right

Agree. I have Pitts and did trade for Kelce last season as a contender. I regretted it by the time playoffs came around and would love to trade Kelce away this off-season.

Depends how those contracts work for me. Dynasty league I’m fine moving kelce for pitts but if the contract running out means the guy is gone, this plays somewhere between a redraft and a dynasty I imagine? If that’s the case give me kelce.

I know the deals already done but curious how it works anyways. Lots of throw backs to FA makes that 2nd a lot more valuable too though.
