Doesn't matter if you're one of the greatest coaches in NFL history. Make the wrong choice one time on QB and you're screwed.

Belichick without Brady: 64-79 (9 seasons)

Still one of the best coaches ever, but just the reality of the NFL when you don't have a QB. Or in his case, when you draft one, can't develop them, and make awful personnel decisions around them.

He has had a few seasons sans Brady now, and the team is in absolute shambles. I understand the choice to move on, I would have liked to seem him with someone better than Mac Jones or at least taken a shot on another guy this season or last, but honestly I cant think of a single note worthy player on either side of the ball this season and that falls on Coach/GM Belichick

Yup its not just about the QB. The team around them has been terrible for a while. That season they went big on FA and completely whiffed

Bill might have been playing with a backup QB but it's not like the cupboard was bare for little Billy B. It's not like he went 11-5 with an overall average-talented roster.

LaFleur taking a lot of heat but that loss is mostly on Joe Barry.

Absolutely horrendous defensive play calling to end the game.

Props to the guy for taking a defense with 9 1st round picks, multiple all-pro talents and somehow captain'ing the 28th worst defense via DVOA

Barry should have been fired already, but they are buddies. Lafleur calling all those sweeps to Reed that didn't work, killed multiple drives, and then he tried it again on that all important 2 point conversion. His stubborn play calling cost them, too.

Joe Barry's choice to play DBs 10 yards off coverage while nursing a 1 point lead with less than 2 minutes left is 10x worse than LaFleur calling a WR reverse that would've scored if 2 guys didn't completely whiff their blocks.

I would've liked to have put the ball in Love's hands there but it just comes down to an execution error.

Joe Barry's decision to play defense like he was up 20 in that situation was just asinine. He set up his players to fail like he has most of this season.

For sure. However, Lafleur is also the HC. He should have some input on Barry's choices in this scenario. He stood there play after play, like us, watching it happen.
