Noah Gray - when to grab?

Postby wickerkat1212 » Thu Nov 09, 2023 11:54 am

So just wondering when you all are going to grab your shares of Noah Gray, KC TE? Kelce is the man, but you know we have to grab Gray before he retires. I think Kelce has 2-3 more years in him, TBH.

My five leagues:

#3—1 ppr, 1 qb, he's owned
#4—1 ppr, 1 qb, he's owned
Superflex #1—1 ppr, he's on the WW.
Superflex #2—1 ppr, TEP he's owned.

Should I grab him in Superflex #1? Do you have shares?

In my Superflex where he's available I have Kmet, Conklin, Ertz, Hurst, Kraft.

Thoughts?
D3:
QB—Allen, Pickett RB—Kamara, Jacobs, ZWhite, Edwards, Ford, Warren WR—Lamb, Olave, DJM, Puka, Tillman, Marshall, Jefferson, Robinson, Tucker TE—Ferguson, Schoon, Likely, Smith, Washington, Kraft PK—Prater DEF—BAL

D4:
QB—TLaw, JimmyG, Tannehill, AOC, Hall RB—Bijan, Kamara, Conner, Gainwell, Gainwell, Foreman, ZMoss, Chandler, McLaughlin, Murray WR—Jefferson, Hill, Adams, Allen, Tillman, Woods TE—Kelce, Kmet, Conklin PK—Butker DEF—PIT

Superflex 1:
QB—Mahomes, Rodgers, Mayfield RB—Bijan, Kamara, Allgeier, Singletary, Mostert, BRob, Warren, Rodriguez, Spiller WR—Chase, DJM, Devonta, MBrown, Myers, Reynold, Jones TE—Kmet, Likely, Kraft, Conklin, Hurst, Hudson PK—Elliott DEF—PHI

Superflex 2:
QB: Goff, Cousins, Wentz, White; RB: Bijan, BRob, ZWhite, Allgeier, McLaughlin WR: DJM, Higgins, JSN, Downs, RMoore, Atwell, SMoore, PCampbell, DPJ, ATP, Hutchinson, Iosivas, Devante, CJones TE: Ferguson, Kraft, Trautman, Tremble

I mean, if you have room go ahead. I've got him stashed a few places. He plays fairly well with Kelce out and is even seeing involvement with Kelce in the lineup. Gotta say though, if you are expecting an heir to the throne type deal, it's not happening. Noah Gray isn't Travis Kelce. He could be useful, but don't expect a one for one translation of that production.

Yeah, I don't think he's going to be Kelce, but with him taken in 4/5 leagues I always wonder when is the best time. Don't want to be late. I have FIVE TEs because mine are not great. Would you drop any of them for Gray? I think Hurst could probably go. Kraft hasn't shown much.

I'd rather have Gray than either of those two.

Just to add. Noah Gray is a UFA in 2025, Kelce is 34. I don't see KC rolling with Gray as TE1 unless Kelce surprisingly retires this offseason.

This. Gray is a backup in case Kelce goes down, that’s all. He’s proven he can be a decent spot-start, but wouldn’t be expecting TE1 numbers even if Kelce goes down.

That's my biggest issue with Gray. I'm not sure he re-ups with KC. Kelce could pull a Gonzalez and play into his late 30's.

Please don't fall for any idea that there's a "Kelce role" and that some random 5th round TE can do what he does. There's no Kelce role, just like there isn't a "Gronk role". Kelce is all-time skilled, talented, and great at what he does and he was doing it before Mahomes got there.

I could see Kelce playing until he's 37-38. I don't think Mahomes' next go-to guy is on the roster.

Okay, thanks. Appreciate the input here. Kelce is 34 and I could see him playing until 37-38, agree. So yes, the Kelce "replacement" may not be on the roster yet.
