Because he agreed to a veteran minimum 1.3 million dollar contract with only 500k guaranteed?

That's a great deal for a warm body at the position. It doesn't even crack the active Top 100 RB contracts list:

That's just good business by Howie.

How can the reffing be this bad in a pro league? Clear as day hold on that last play, right in front of the back judge, staring right at it. Brutal.

What are folks doing with Ridley at this point? Another bad week although the target volume is there.

If he's a low end WR2 for the rest of season, he's dropped a lot in value. At his age you aren't getting all that much from a contender if that's all he is. I don't see him as a "must start" any more.

And as a corollary, were we too quick to anoint Trevor? He's been serviceable as a FF player at best.

They've had everything go right for them in the first five.
Purdy had little to do with everything going right…

Also all the actually good QBs never have down days. It just doesn’t happen. They should have never traded away Lance! The sky is falling!
You basically just made my point. He's a good system QB, nothing more.
You’re argument that a QB may struggle against arguably the leagues best defense while he didn’t have two of his best offensive weapons.

I don't think so. Hoyer is QB2 because he needs less reps and can more easily start a game without practicing as QB1. AOC is a rookie, he can only start if he practices as QB1 for a full week. I'd be very surprised if AOC doesn't get all the reps this week and start assuming Jimmy G can't go.
Yep, they don’t want to throw him in the deep end mid game as a rookie. We just saw the same thing happen when he got his start a couple weeks ago.
I doubt it. Raiders are on the road vs the Bears with a very winnable matchup, and a chance to go 4-3. I expect Hoyer to start, if Jimmy is gone. There's no good reasonable explanation to your team why you start AOC after all the turnovers he had his first start. I expect them to go with the veteran who came in, played well, helped them win, and knows your system, from his prior stint with you in NE, to try and get a game plan together to play a ball control style game without turnovers, against a Bears offense that has questions at the position itself.
It’s possible, but I certainly don’t think it’s a foregone conclusion. Let’s not act as though Hoyer is remotely good. He has never won a game as the starter (0-12).

AOC is the emergency QB. He can't play unless Hoyer was also injured. If Jimmy misses the next game, it's almost certain AOC would start.
I don’t see the logic behind this. If they viewed him as the current backup, he’d have been the #2 and not emergency QB wouldn’t he? If he’s viewed as the starter if Jimmy is out, I don’t see the point in labeling him emergency QB so he can’t play.
Correct. Hoyer would likely start.
Last time Jimmy missed a game, AOC was the starter and played well enough. Don't overthink this.

I was never high on Ridley this season. I didn't see a path back to T15WR production for an older WR who'd missed a couple of seasons. At this point in their careers, Kirk is simply the much better WR and he will (and should) command the most targets. I predict Ridley is going to be a Jeudy/Dotson type producer for the rest of the season. Meaning a lot of blah games, a couple of serviceable games, and one more blow up game. I wouldn't want to depend on him as a starter for a contender and would trade him for whatever I could get -- but if I was contending and had a shallow roster, I might hold him for depth just in case.

On Trevor, I'm still in on him. I've moved him a little lower on the board, down around QB9-13, but he's still someone I'd be happy to have in SF. In 1QB, I'd prefer him as a backup.

Yet more great coaching decisions. Started Thomas over M Wilson instead. Well, at least I sat Miller.
