I can’t think of anything more perfect than a CB playing in all 3 phases of the game.
Marcus Jones took a screen to the house 2 weeks ago, and logged 7 (8?) tackles and a pick last week. Add him as a threat to house k/o’s and punts. And you got a triple threat marked down as a DB.
Sign me tf up, I’m grabbing him everywhere he’s available

Re: Marcus Jones: IDP gold
I had to start him this week since one of my starters was ruled out before the games started, and Jones dropped 49.5 points. The 69 yard pick-6 was IDP gold indeed.

Fellas, what's the outlook for 2023? I'm scared to drop him given the performance late last season. But every site I use is projecting almost no production... just want to make sure others agree with completely ignoring the projections and praying week 1-3 to see if he can rekindle the spark lol.

Re: Marcus Jones: IDP gold
projections are worse than useless. and that's for offense! for defense are just a lottery mock up.
i like him, he plays bigger than his size which you love to see, and should be a good nickelback. if he becomes a regular and an important part of the defense, his other roles will diminish.
if you have points for return yards he's still a good piece, but i wouldn't rely on the offensive snaps he got: he played 18 across 5 games and sure did the most with them, but the chances are he'll never get more targets than what he got last season.
with long benches i might keep him over a middling safety or LB just for the upside. or try to get someone to bite for 3rd.

Patriots fan here.
Trade him for whatever you can get for him. The Patriots drafted Demario Douglas to play the gadget wr role and Isaiah Bolden, who led the NCAA in KO return last year, to return kicks. Jones will probably be the primary punt returner but he might not even be a starting CB. If Jack Jones avoids jail time, Jones will likely be the 4th CB behind Gonzales, Jack Jones and Jonathan Jones.

Re: Marcus Jones: IDP gold
He’s a tough one. In my 16 team, start 2 CB, and that rewards Return Yards, he can be quite the difference maker. I agree that his offensive role is likely to decline, but they also aren’t full of weapons in NE. He could still get spot touches IMO. He was very effective at them last year (as a rookie no less). He was an elite returner in college and showed well as a rookie too. Not sure you reduce him there either.
On Defense it’s a wildcard. That’s the biggest challenge. If he is the CB4, and you can’t bank on any O touches, then return yards aren’t enough.
Very high floor. Low ceiling, albeit with return yardage variability on floor (as you never know how Kickoffs or Punts will go for volume of opportunity in a game).

When is a CB ever worth holding?

Re: Marcus Jones: IDP gold
Agree largely, a few corners are consistently productive though and worth holding, but not worth paying for. Was asking if he's one of those, given his late season tear including a 40pt game...
Re: Marcus Jones: IDP gold
Since my post, I came to my senses and sold him. As much upside as there is given his multi-faceted potential, I couldn’t pass on acquiring draft capital for a CB. I’ll roll the dice on finding someone else.

when he scores 60.62 points in the playoffs (points for punt, kick and INT returns).
with that upside and in a deep league, i want at least an early 3rd. not that i expect him to score that much again, but for a 4th, i'm keeping the off chance he does something similar (and THEN sell for a 2nd ).

Re: Marcus Jones: IDP gold
I once sold CB T White BUF for a third and I was pumped. What an easy sell. 7 round rookie draft.
Re: Marcus Jones: IDP gold
Marcus Jones will have a few spike games due to offensive input.
Guessing when those will occur will be difficult.
