Trade Cook/Jones for picks?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Trade Cook/Jones for picks?

Postby Cojo 2020 » Wed Nov 30, 2022 7:45 pm

The team in my signature is clinging to a playoff spot with two weeks to go in the regular season. The last regular season game is against the team favored to win it all.

I’ve been off-loading aging talent for picks for a while. So I have 5 firsts and 4 seconds this year and 4 firsts in 2024. I still have Dalvin Cook and Aaron Jones who I haven’t been able to trade.

The team right behind me in the playoff race is interested in both of them. What do you think about this offer? Should I take what I can get and risk missing the playoffs or take my shot at a ring and risk getting stuck with aging RBs?

The deal being discussed is that I give Cook and Jones

I get:
2023 1st (late)
2024 1st (likely late)
2025 2nd
2025 3rd

It feels like it is a bit light, but it’s the closest I’ve seen to a legitimate offer. DLF trade analyzer has it pretty even. But there isn’t an option to designate a 2024 pick as “late.”

The offer is okay overall but seems light with multiple picks multiple years out and this years pick looking late. I would hold and keep shopping.

worst case hold them both and trade in the offseason...with that many picks..ok to hold valuable assets....neither is going anywhere....both are woth a current first at the very minimum.....I pass and hold those trump cards.......you only get to play them once......so get value and don't settle,,,

Too light. And separately I'd hedge my bet by keeping them since you already have so much draft capital.

If you can practice patience this may pay off down the line. Cook and Jones will hit their last likely peak value window next August. That's when rookie fever is over and everything shifts back into redraft mode in fantasy. That's when people glance at redraft rankings and realize that Cook and Jones are both ranked high again in yearly rankings...

I'd try to get more now with my mindset focused on the chance for a nice deal at the end of next summer as werl.
