Eli Mitchell Trade

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Eli Mitchell Trade

Postby Kurtrambis1 » Sat Nov 19, 2022 8:11 pm

I got offered Eli Mitchell for a late 2nd.

I’m 5-5 and will most likely make the playoffs as I have a high points scored and our last two playoff spots go by that.

I like Mitchell but I feel like this trade only works if CMC gets injured.

The value is fine here and Mitchell can produce at a high level. Things change quickly in the NFL and he may get a chance elsewhere/continue to get touches. The 49ers need to keep CMC healthy which likely means not a massive typical CMC workload.

It's a good value, but he could be a boom or bust flex play. CMC will get most of the work for the 49ers and I really think that the offense will still be evolving until near the end of the season. If it is a game where they are ahead and run more I can see Mitchell getting more carries. To land him for a 2nd could be nice, a ok flex but high end rb if CMC is out. I'd make the deal.

im torn but leaning hold, you got not first and a pair of 2nds and i dont see how mitchell is making your lineup. rather have the 2nd to attempt to move up in the draft next year. i also dont think mitchell value is going above what you are paying so once you have him you are gonna be stuck. he has 6 career TD and 0 this year, you would be paying to hope cmc gets hurt and that you use Eli and make a title run despite losing half the games to this point.

the one thing that is a little appealing to me is that eli is only 24 and is cheaply under contract the next 2 seasons, and your rb room could go from deep to thin this offseason depending what takes place with monty, cordarelle, and jamaal. so having the stability of knowing you got at least a serviceable rb2 with potential to be a #1 with a cmc injury might be worth the 2nd and give you less to worry about heading into next season.
