This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Jefferson Trade in Rebuild

Postby Okie-Wisco Commi$h » Tue Sep 06, 2022 5:16 pm

Hey everyone! I just got through a massive 1st Round rebuild from this year, but received a very interesting offering for my Justin Jefferson. This is for The 2015 team in my signature.

Give:

Justin Jefferson

Receives:

2023 1st Round Pick (was 1.2 last year)
2023 1st Round Pick (was 1.3 last year)
2023 1st Roubd Pick (was 1.5 last year)

Trade calculator has this in my favor and knowing my team is not competing is having too many lotto tickets too much or do I seize this due to the studs coming? Thanks in advance!

There is no telling which prospects will be studs and where to picks will land. I get the excitement of the picks but you could miss on all picks and trade Jefferson for three subpar assets. Too much risk here. Pass. Jefferson is the best asset in dynasty.

If you are really looking to move JJ during your rebuild then this is a solid value return assuming those picks are actually likely all top 5. With that said. I think I would want a solid young asset on top of it or as a part of it. I’m not sure I would even want to move JJ even in a rebuild. He is so young and talented that he is the best possible building block to be at the base of the rebuild.

If the 2015 team is 1QB, there’s no chance I’m moving Jefferson…even for that group of picks. You’re set at QB, have a haul of young WRs from this year’s class, and Pitts. You’re RB room is the only concern I’m seeing, but all in all, I’m sticking with JJ as my cornerstone of if I were in your shoes.

I'd say that would be ok value if you were doing a 2-3 year rebuild. You may be able to start competing as soon as next year.

The picks only push your rebuild out further. I'd stick with Jefferson, and maybe look at trading for young RB assets to really allow you to try for it all next year.

Need to know the starting requirements. If it’s deep, I like it if it’s shallow easy pass. If it’s in the middle, it’s close.

Have to disagree with this if it’s an active league. Picks don’t necessarily push anything out, they gain value and you can trade them. If you’re using 4-5 1sts in a draft you’re doing it wrong IMO. All about acquiring assets and flipping them when you have enough.

When it comes to these massive foundational pieces you only move them if you have NOTHING on your roster to work with and you need to nuke yourself and totally liquify. OR if it's Start 12-14 or something outrageous where you struggle to even keep a roster full of starters.

The fact that you have the QB and TE position locked up with the #1 dynasty players at the position AND the #1 WR is a screaming hold for me. The goal of these supercharged draft picks is to get elite players and you somehow have the #1's at 3 positions. You're a RB or 2 away from competing man. AND you have a platoon of young WRs ready to ascend.

Do you have any 1sts next year or remaining draft capital to go get your RB(s)?

It's a very, VERY appealing offer you have, but I'd have to pass here. Your team is stacked with wr's with tons of potential to go along with JJ. You have the top dynasty asset in JJ, top 3 qb in Allen, top te in Pitts so your team is solid. You need your wr youth to reach their potential and a few of your rb's to take off and your team is looking good. I like the idea of potentially landing 3 early 1st rd picks, but it's still the "great unknown". Take the proven young stud.

pass, you have no urgency to find rb and thats the only need, you are so young and high end everywhere else you have legit like 4 years to try to make a strong duo at rb via picks.
team 1
12 team, 1 pt for 4 rec, 0.1 per rush
1qb, 3 rb, 4 wr, te, k, 4 idp
Dak , Herbert
Achane, Breece Hall, KW3Kyren,Ford, Miller, Spiller, z evans, singletary
J Jefferson, Diggs, DK, D Smith Puka, C Watson, E Moore
Njoku , HH, Engram

2024 picks
1,3,4,5,5,6,7 (all late mostly)

team 2
12 team .5ppr
qb, 2 rb, 2 wr, te, flx,flx,
Fields, Dak
Ford,Mixon, Javonte, Mostert, Chubb, Spears
Hopkins, Evans, g Wilson Mingo, shaheed, Jamo
Kelce,McBride, Chig,

1,2,3,3,5

team 3
14 team sf, even scoring idp to offense (rb scores highly too)
Josh Allen, A Rich, Foles, Rudolph
Bijan, Charbs, Spears, Ebner
J Williams, G Wilson, C Watson, Flowers, J Addison, Tillman
Kincaid, Kolar, Ruckert, Fergeson

Kenny Clark, josh allen, jaelen phillips, felix a-u and a bunch of fluff and rookie fliers at idp

Thanks everyone for the input. I decided to pass on the offer as you've got to turn picks into players at somepoint right?

I have 2 1's next year, my own and the league champion's. Are there RB's you would target with a player/pick combo with my age/build?

I’m almost always in favor of taking three top 5 1sts for any player, especially a class like 2023.

Everyone is right though and it’s a tough spot with so many young players already. I’d be trying to flip Pierce and Brob when you get the chance since their timeline might not fit your team.

If you were pretty sure those three picks would still be top 5 I’d have to pull the trigger and move Jefferson. You never know when a slew of injuries beset a guy(aka OBJ, Nicks, etc). 3 1sts is the appropriate price for an elite stud and you are in a rebuild and need rbs. I’m going against the grain and taking the deal as long as you are 80% sure the picks are all top 5 again. If there is a chance they cleans up later I’m passing.
