Kyle Phillips

Postby Pullo Vision » Thu Sep 08, 2022 2:53 am

Nuanced route runner
Short area burst
Open field shiftiness
Blocks his butt off and was even motioned into position to be a lead blocker
Doesn't take a play off, even if the design is to the other side of the field
Has the "clutch" gene
“If you’re looking for a [Cooper] Kupp-like player in the 2022 NFL Draft, UCLA’s Kyle Philips is the answer.” — Shrine Bowl director of football operations/player personnel Eric Galko
At the Shrine Bowl this year, he was continually beating whatever CB was assigned to him. By day 3, coaches reportedly pulled him from practice because QBs were only looking to target him and not even looking at other options. They didn't even bother putting him into the game itself.

I'm a big, big fan and he needs a thread.

Titans fan from Nashville and I too like him. Having a hard time squeezing him on to rosters however. Down the depth cart on one the most run heavy offenses in the league. Will get more run heavy when M.Willis takes the reins. If you want a Titans stash I like Willis over Phillips.

Love Philips as well. Drafted him wherever I could. Only worry is whether he will be utilized enough in that offense.

Probably more Adam Humphries than Kupp or Renfrow, but an interesting PPR stash. I'm not sure a slot-only wr on any Vrabel team is a guy to chase though. Would like him a lot more on a more modern offense.
Dynasty player since 2002.
I probably should have done something more productive with that time...

6/8 for 66 yards with 62 return yards and a fumble - 13.08 points (in my league)

That's more points than any* other rookie WR in week 1

*Drake London had 5 for 74 which is 12.4, so in none return leagues that's more.

Does this mean anything in a week 1 loss against the giants? I don't think so, but hey...it's cool.

He's basically a carbon copy of Hunter Renfrow.

Absolutely means something. It means the preseason usage in the preseason/camp continued into the regular season. This wasnt a blow out game where scrubs got time. They fought tooth and nail trying to win this game, and Phillips was their primary slot guy. Hes not a WR1 obviously, but those receptions are going to be useful.

Led the team in targets, catches and receiving yards yesterday. Would be interesting to chart where his 3rd place 31 snaps were (outside/slot/wherever), or if there was a strong split in his snaps/production (by half, or hurry-up/2minute drill).

On KTC, he's seen two value spikes- September 8th (when this thread was made) and yesterday. He's now valued around a late 23 3rd. I wouldn't sell him for that where I have him.

Looks like a good chain mover as a WR, I see Renfrow as well. Believe he muffed the one punt, did they keep him in on return duties after that?

First off, there's only 1 L in his name. Not the traditional spelling of Phillips. It's Philips. Anyways, I like him, but I don't trust anything about this pass offense. Tanny or Willis down the line. If they draft a top tier college QB at some point, maybe I will look to invest, but I just don't want a thing to do with this offense right now.

I will say, that first kick return he did was absolutely electric. He's got such awesome agility and change of direction - I was really impressed.

I think this dude is going to carve out more and more of a role as the season goes on. Per Jahnke:
Wide receivers with the largest targets per route, minimum 20 routes

1. Kyle Philips 42.9% 👀👀👀
2. Tyreek Hill 38.7%
3. Davante Adams 36.6%
4. Amon-Ra St. Brown 33.3%
5. Brandin Cooks 31.6%
