When is it time to Sell?

Hey Guys,

My team has been very good over the last several years, but a lot of my players are now getting to the age where they are going to start hitting a wall and value is going to plummet. If you are contending do you use them til the wheels fall off? Or do you try to sell when the value is still there?

RB: Zeke (Pollard and not as productive), Kamara (Legal Trouble), Barkley (Not sure what to do with him)

WR: Hopkins (SUS), Godwin (Recovering from ACL)

I feel good about QB and TE, but do you blow this up and start gathering picks or do you hold and try to get one or two more runs with this? Thanks.

It's worth seeing if there's a market for some of these older guys, but I doubt it given it's rookie hype season.

Still, for a 16 team league, I think your team is very solid and wouldn't go blowing up a contender

I've had this issue with a really good team and have been wondering the same thing the past three years. Most say to just ride it out and regroup once the ride is done. The unfortunate part is the ride usually comes to a quick stop before you realize it. Sometimes it's best to rip off the Band-Aid unless you truly believe you will win the title. With the projected 2023 class being really good, it might be time to acquire a lot of picks for that draft.

I would shop the players you are worried about losing value and see if the returns are worth the move. If the returns are not there, no reason to give the players away. At that point, hold and hope to make another run. If your team struggles in season, shop again and go from there. For me, it's all about the return in any deal and if it's worth the move to help you now and long term.

It's much easier to sell assets when your middle of the pack. If your a top team in the league (making the money)...I would ride it out/make small moves. You never know when your draft pick might hit and fill a hole. Draft well and hopefully you never have to sell your stars when productive. If you aren't confident when it's your pick, trade the pick for a vet etc.

That's still a really strong lineup in 16 team. I think guys like Zeke and Kamara are 2 you really can't sell until they are on the field putting up numbers again, and same to lesser extent with Saquon.
The team is on the backside of it's prime, but I wouldn't want to disassemble a contender at least until you are in season and have seen whether you get some good breaks or bad breaks to weather the delay on Nuk Godwin, and Kamara.

It's fine to sell as long as you receive quality in return. I'd look to sell a couple of these pieces ('specially Zeke and Godwin) but I wouldn't settle for random role players or 2nds for them. If you could move those two for a combined couple of 1st and young growers, I'd gladly fit those new pieces with your roster.

Hopk could help your contender in the 2nd half of the season, and Barkley's worth holding to see if he can remain healthy. Although, if I received a great offer for SB, I'd ship him pronto! I say hold SB because I don't think many managers are paying a lot for him.

This is a team that can still win some ships as is. Ride it out unless you get an offer that is a no brainer

I'm easily holding tight. Great squad. You look like an absolute lock to be a top 3-4 team in a 16-teamer. Pedal down!

That said, maybe get what you can for Hopkins if there's a market. He's the only one on your roster who is a must sell IMO. Worst case though... he provides some depth for the back half of the season and bye weeks. I just think he's toast (and that hurts my heart a little).

Maybe your sell here is Hock too. He should get you some assets and you really don't need him. Pick up a cheap Hayden Hurst type of backup fort Pitts and you're good to go.

Do it, but I don't see that trade as a blow-up. I see it as maximizing your assets and remaining very competitive. It wouldn't be efficient to start both Zeke+Pollard, and I project they would hurt each other's stats all season - neither would be all they could be unless the other was injured.

I think you still have a competitive team after this trade. Especially considering you're getting 2022 1.02 which you could choose Walker who should be fairly close to the stats you would get from Zeke or Pollard. And you still have a '23 1st to look forward to.

This trade is a solid win as I see it.

I hope you accepted the Elliott trade. Those are the types of trades that keep you in the window. You get a premium pick to use on Walker or sell for a vet, and bank another 1st in the meantime.

If the 1.01 doesn’t have a need at RB or is rebuilding, you might be able to offer that 1.02 and a reasonable piece for Hall.
