JT... Any trade for him has to include at least 1 surefire 100% proven player or the 1.01

There's nothing in that deal that makes me feel good enough to move off a player like Taylor.

Looks like a trade that the calculator probably says it's even, but it's deinitely not close for JT

Hurts is a gamble long term fair or not, picks bust and Smith Jr is an unknown as of now. Taylor for me.

When you see an Irv Smith in a trade for a top-3 dynasty asset, that's enough to make you skeptical. The guy's just throwing random pieces and hoping that they'll add up to JT. Well, they don't...

thanks for the responses everyone. The trade posted above was actually higher than I was offered (I added the 2023 1st to the post)--and knowing that even then people would prefer JT gives me confidence in my decision to decline and not feel guilty about it.

I don't play SF but I am surprised by the answers here.

I would take the picks and JH, especially if he is an upgrade at QB for you. For everyone saying that they don't know how long Hurts will be the starter in Philly, you can say the same for any running back. Maybe you land Walker at 1.4 and the 2023 1st could be gold.

TE - M. Andrews, D. Njoku, I. Likely, T. Kraft

I can definitely see that side of it for sure--my point was more so that I was offered *less* than what I posted, and was told I was looking for too much already. Even if it ends up being 50-50 in terms of which side to take, the takeaway is that the initial offer certainly wouldn't have been enough.

Sure, I certainly wouldn't take it without the 2023 1st, but would consider it without Smith even.

You were not being unreasonable wanting the 2023 1st back with JT's current status and the noise around Hurts not being the Philly QB of the future.

It's very likely that this is Hurts last year as a starter unless he makes significant jump in his throwing. Eagles acquired an extra first in 23 which will allow them to move up and take another QB, and they still have two firsts this year if they like one of the QBs (no idea why they'd do that though).

JT is a known asset and still a first round (if not too 6) startup pick, while I wouldn't be taking hurts before the 3rd.

This is basically trading a 1st for a 3rd, and maybe two sixths. In startup terms. Irv and the 2.04 mean nothing to me.

It may be his last year as a starter in Philly but I believe that he could very well be a starter for another team. He offers too much upside to be Philly's backup if they move on IMO.

All this assuming that he doesn't improve this year of course.

I'm not a huge Hurts truther by any means but he has some tools to work with and offers elite level rushing upside while his other tools get refined. Forget the fantasy aspect for a minute and how he impacts our receivers (I have Devonta Smith) and think what he adds to a team. I view Hurts as an improvement on close to 1/4 of NFL teams today.

Seahawks
Washington
Giants
Saints
Lions
Panthers
Texans
Steelers

Excluding the Jets and Bears because they both are very young but could add the Colts and Bucs by the beginning of next season.
