AJB versus Akers

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

AJB versus Akers

Postby NickGB » Tue Jun 09, 2020 2:59 pm

I know AJB Holds the better value, just not sure the trade is right for me team the offer is straight-up AJB for Akers and I'm very tempted to take it. However, this is my roster:

QB: Joe Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa, Teddy Bridgewater, Baker Mayfield, Jordan Love, Trevor Lawrence*

RB: Cam Akers, De'Andre Swift, Johnathan Taylor, Rojo

WR: Odell Beckham Jr, Mike Evans, DJ Moore, Christian Kirk, Ja'Marr Chase*

TE: Kittle, Hurst, Albert O, Brevin Jordan*

What do you think? Smash accept in this situation and never look back or decline it so that I'm not rolling into the season with Swift/Taylor/Rojo as my only viable starting RB's?
Team 1: SF/2TE/PPR

QB:Joe Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa, Teddy Bridgewater, Baker Mayfield, Jordan Love, Trevor Lawrence*
RB: De'Andre Swift, Johnathan Taylor, Ronald Rones
WR: Odell Beckham Jr, Mike Evans, A.J. Brown, D.J. Moore, Christian Kirk, Anthony Miller, Ja'Marr Chase*
TE: George Kittle, Hayden Hurst, Albert O, Brevin Jordan*

Yeah, I knew the value was definitely far greater than Akers just wasn't sure that it was the right move for my team at that time. I did accept the trade tho.

When pre season hype is in full swing and brown is doing his thing and you want to move him you could get a better rb in return than Akers at that point. You gained a lot of value imo

AJB's value is somewhere between 1.01 and 1.02. If you think Akers is that valuable, then thats fine, but the market generally has Akers between 1.04-1.07. If you prefer Akers to AJB, then you definitely need a mid 1st on top. That said, you'd be trading a known commodity for two unknowns, which is something I don't recommend.
12 Team - PPR - 30man (2 IR) - 6pt PPTD- 1 QB - 2 RB - 2 WR - 1 Flex - 1 TE
QB: Jalen Hurts, Dak Prescott, Anthony Richardson, Aidan O'Connell
RB: McCaffrey, Jacobs, Barkley, Zamir White, Jaleel McLaughlin, Dowdle, Zach Evans, Dobbins
WR: AJB, London, Aiyuk, Diontae Johnson, Rashee Rice, Ridley, McLaurin, Dotson, Rashod Bateman
TE: Mandrews, Pitts, Likely, Otton

2024: 1.01, 1.07
2025: 3x 1st
Champ: 2020, 2021
Year 9 of my league

I was actually on the receiving end of A.J. Brown and traded away Akers for him in a straight-up trade. It was for the team in my sig so I was a little unsure if I should take it because I thought there may be a slight chance I could compete this year and that would leave me thin at RB.

Brown is valued between the 1.01 to the 1.04 range depending on owner.

That is a slam dunk then. I don't think Akers is going to help you win this year, or the risk you'd take on for taking him over AJB, simply isn't worth it.

Need to see how your QBs come along before I'd be confident in that team competing. Definitely taking the better long term asset in AJB here.
12 Team SF IDP
QB - Mahomes, Lawrence, Mac
RB - Etienne, Walker, Rhamondre, Javonte, Akers, CEH
WR - AJB, Waddle, Higgins, Gabe, Toney
TE - Andrews, ISJ
DL - Quinnen, Highsmith, Josh Allen
LB - Lloyd, JOK, Gay, Bush
DB - Winfield, Love, Delpit

14 Team 1QB IDP
QB - Fields, Jimmy G
RB - Henry, Kamara, Swift, Herbert
WR - Adams, Juju, Jakobi, Theilen
TE - Hock, Everett
DL - Garrett, Buckner, Sweat
LB - White, David, Okereke, Jack
DB - Budda, CJGJ, Dugger, Byard

The value is so much on the AJB side that I think you have to take it and worry about RBs later. You still have some solid young pieces at RB so you aren't completely screwed.
Team 1: 12 team, PPR
1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1Flex

Mahomes, Lawrence
Najee, Swift, Javonte, Jamaal W, Murray
DK, DJM, Juju, Jameson, Gallup, Van
Pitts, Friermuth
1.01, 1.04, 1.11, 1.12, 3.10, 2 firsts next year

Team 2: 12 Team, SF TEP (1.5 PPR)
1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 2Flex, 1 SF

Mahomes, Burrow, Cousins, Rudolph
CEH, Swift, Gibson, Jacobs, Mattison, Scott, McFarland
DK, AJB, Ridley, McLaurin, Kupp, Landry, Mims, Hamler, Miller, Johnson, Robinson
Andrews, H. Henry, Sternberger, Alie-Cox, Herndon

Same as Team 2
Watson, Burrow, Lance, Z. Wilson
Pollard, Mattison
Chase, D. Smith, Boyd, Hardman, E. Moore, Cephus, A. Rodgers, Harry, Boykin, A. Tate, Miller
Hockenson, Thomas, Albert O, Njoku
3 additional firsts

Same as Team 2
TLaw, Burrow, Watson, Darnold
CEH, Gus, Cohen
Juju, Chark, Shenault, Boyd, Landry, Renfrow, Robinson,
Engram, Kmet, Firkser, Schultz, Arnold, Herndon
5 additional firsts

For sure, the Quarterback situation is definitely a little questionable but it's got some high-upside talent there and plenty of capital thrown at the position including depth pieces. I'm hoping to see Baker / OBJ get off to a nice start and flip them mid-season.
