How has the beginning of my startup gone?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

How has the beginning of my startup gone?

Postby jnappy » Tue Jun 02, 2020 3:47 pm

In the middle of a 12-team SF 2TE (no premium scoring) startup, and we're in the middle of the 9th round. How does my team look so far? Anything I should focus on in the coming rounds? Any insight into how startups like this shake out in the coming rounds? It seems to me like a lot of value is dropping at RB and WR as guys are starting to realize they're in trouble at QB and TE. Appreciate the insight, this is my first league with this format!

Start: 1-2 QB, 2-4 RB, 2-4 WR, 2-4 TE

QB: Wentz, Jones, Cousins
RB: Mixon
WR: AJB
TE: Andrews, Goedert, Hock
2020 rookie picks: 1.02, 1.10
2021 rookie picks: 1st, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th

Upcoming startup picks: 10.09, 11.07, 12.05, 12.09, 13.04, extra 14th, extra 20th (25 rounds total)

Looking good so far. I would start knocking out some wr's depending on what TEs and QBs are still available.

Looking good so far. I like your QB and TE room. I would snag another startable RB soon to go with Mixon. That will leave you flexible at 1.02. Obviously, a few WRs will do nicely, but I wouldn’t discount QB and TE if the value is right. Some of your league mates might not truly understand the value of both in a SF 2TE. They may not get it until half way through the first season or into next offseason. But those pieces will have trade value sooner rather than later.

1.09 just got taken at 8.06. I think I'm leaning taking 1.10 if it's there when I'm OTC at 9.04.

RB: Roschon (TS), Allgeier, Hill, Demercado, McLaughlin, Mitchell, K. Harris, E. Wilson

I would look at Best available long term at RB or WR. If you bag a young stud RB here then go all in on WR's unless insane value drops on you, like a player you have 2 rounds higher grade on. Knowing you have JT or CEH on tap in the rookie gives you an abusive advantage once you have 2 starter RB's locked in.

I would plan on 3 RB's(1 coming from the rookie) and focus on WR's to fill most of your flex. It is a much deeper pool not to mention they will have double the shelf life so years from now you can just draft BPA.
Cavaliers 12 team standard, 1QB, 1RB, 1WR, 2WR/TE, 1flex
QB: J. Allen, S. Howell, Z.Wilson
RB: A. Kamara, J. Taylor, CEH, K. Gainwell, P. Strong
WR: A.J. Brown, A. Cooper, J. Dotson, C. Ridley, E. Moore, W. Robinson, J. Meyers, T. Marshall,
TE: G. Kittle, J. Johnson, J. Woods, H. Henry
'23 1.10, 2.10, 3.10 '24 1, 2, 3
Recent Championships '19,'21,'22

Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends- 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 2Flex
QB: Mahomes, Purdy, Lance
RB: Pierce, Miller, K. Herbert, E. Hull
WR: Chase, Watson, Davis, JSN, Metchie, Pierce, V. Jefferson, Claypool, Thornton, Westbrook-Ikhine
TE: Pitts, Woods, Latu

That team looks really good. Depending on who is available I might load up on a couple picks. Adding Lamb/Jeudy + Reagor/Jefferson this late could look like a steal next year.
Team 1: 12 team, PPR
1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1Flex

Mahomes, Lawrence
Najee, Swift, Javonte, Jamaal W, Murray
DK, DJM, Juju, Jameson, Gallup, Van
Pitts, Friermuth
1.01, 1.04, 1.11, 1.12, 3.10, 2 firsts next year

Team 2: 12 Team, SF TEP (1.5 PPR)
1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 2Flex, 1 SF

Mahomes, Burrow, Cousins, Rudolph
CEH, Swift, Gibson, Jacobs, Mattison, Scott, McFarland
DK, AJB, Ridley, McLaurin, Kupp, Landry, Mims, Hamler, Miller, Johnson, Robinson
Andrews, H. Henry, Sternberger, Alie-Cox, Herndon

Same as Team 2
Watson, Burrow, Lance, Z. Wilson
Pollard, Mattison
Chase, D. Smith, Boyd, Hardman, E. Moore, Cephus, A. Rodgers, Harry, Boykin, A. Tate, Miller
Hockenson, Thomas, Albert O, Njoku
3 additional firsts

Same as Team 2
TLaw, Burrow, Watson, Darnold

I just nabbed 1.10 at 9.04, so that should be Jeudy/Jefferson/Reagor. I felt like one of those WRs was better than everyone else left.
