Multiple offers for Andrews (POLL)

Postby Golly Dagger » Tue Mar 31, 2020 9:34 pm

Hope you all are safe and sound. Quarantine has apparently led to a lot of boredom as I've received three Andrews offers today after putting him on the market. I recently acquired Kittle - so looking to move Andrews now.

Anyway, here they are:

Offer 1:
Receive: Evan Engram and a 2022 1st (pick is very likely to be in the 1.01 - 1.03 range. I feel confident saying that even two years out. His team is always in the 1.01 - 1.03 range).
Give: Andrews

Offer 2:
Receive: Hockenson and Harry
Give: Andrews

Offer 3:
Receive: Fant, 2021 2nd, and a 2022 1st (probably mid)
Give: Andrews

I think I'm between offers 1 and 2, but I like all three. I'm also very patient and have the roster to be patient on potentially nice draft picks.

Thoughts on all of them? I'm leaning Hock + Harry currently but that 2022 1st is alluring.

Thanks in advance.

Wow, those are all pretty good offers. I think I like the 1st offer the best but I admit that I’ve been fairly high on Engram since he came into the league. If I’m moving Andrews, I feel like Engram can give similar production right off next season and if he doesn’t stay healthy or fizzles out completely, you have the 2022 1st to break the fall. The 3rd offer would be my second choice but I also like N.Fant quite a bit as well. The 2nd offer is fine but IMO, N.Harry is a total wild card and I’m nervous about him, at this point.

I'd rank them 3, 1, 2. I like 3 the best because Fant is a nice piece (perfectly fine backup to Kittle) and you get two future picks to either draft with or as trade bait. 2 I like less than 3 because while Engram is a nice TE, I like Fant just as much from a talent standpoint and Engram has a long injury history and while the 2022 1st is probably going to be a higher pick, there is no way to know for certain and its still two years out. 2 I like the least because while Hock has potential, I don't think N'Keal Harry makes up the large gap between him and Andrews.

I like all these offers. Lamar is going to regress, and getting multiple good young pieces is a great move. I'd keep Kittle. Suggesting you move him when you just acquired him doesn't make a lot of sense to me. He's an elite player. Andrews isn't. I'd make whatever deal you like the most. I like the Engram offer if you are confident that guys team is that bad.

I don't like any of these offers. The 2022 picks are way too far out, and there's plenty of risk in both Hockenson and Harry. I have Andrews as my TE3 behind only Kittle and Kelce, so it would take a lot more for me to sell.

Thanks for the detailed responses. I'm between 1 and 3 currently. Seeing if the guy offering number 2 would change the 2021 2nd to 2.04.

Inclined to agree on the Ravens offense in general regressing. Also worth noting that Andrews snap count was surprisingly low (41%). Might change with Hurst gone but certainly indicates they don't trust Andrews as a blocker. Yes, he was productive despite that low number, but if we assume Jackson and the Ravens' offense regresses (which is likely) then this is a nice sell high time for Andrews.

As for Engram, I had him last season and he burned me. I worry about his health but fortunately I wouldn't have to depend on him and could sell again if he rebounds. And like mentioned, the 2022 1st (especially if early) certainly softens the blow.

A first is a first. If you'r playing the long game, that 2022 first for the bad team will pay off long term. It's going to be worth a ton in 2 years. Just have to hold it. Andrews is going to regress, it's almost guaranteed IMO. Lamar isn't going to have a season like that again. The difference between Kelce/Kittle and Andrews is substantial. They are elite athletes and players, Andrews is neither. He had a great year with a potent offense that is due for regression. Engram is a productive TE when on the field, so you are getting a known caliber player, plus a really good rookie pick. It's a good offer.

1. A 1st is not a 1st. The opportunity cost of selling Andrews now for a 1st two years out means you can't get an asset like a 2020 1st or 2021 1st that you could potentially hit on sooner and/or flip for multiple 2022 1sts in the meantime. OP is also projecting the 2022 1st to be top-3, but even if that owner is a perennial bottom team, you never know what can happen two years out.

2. I agree that the difference between Kittle/Kelce and Andrews is substantial, but why is Andrews due for regression? Jackson will regress as a runner, but I view him similarly to Cam Newton in his prime. He'll be productive on the ground, but until Jackson can develop more as a deep passer, his TE will continue to see heavy target share. Look at how long Greg Olsen sustained TE1 numbers even if he was never in that elite Gronk/Graham tier.

It is. It will always rise to the value of a first. I will argue this until I'm blue in the face, so no point in going down this road. If it's 2027 or something, I get it, but a bad teams 2022 first is a good pick to have.

Lamar is due for TD regression as a passer. It's unsustainable.

Everybody here made some excellent points. Appreciate all the feedback and various opinions.

What I ended up doing was finding a way to get the things I wanted most out of two of the deals.

Deal 1:

Gave: Andrews

Received: Engram and the 2022 1st

Deal 2:

Gave: Engram and 4.12

Received: Harry

Engram worries me too much. Harry has concerns but I believe him as a prospect. He's got everything you want in a receiver, I'm hoping he just had a rough rookie year and the inability to separate won't be what dooms him.

I agree with some of the sentiments that a 2022 1st is too far out to bank on, but this guy is (quite frankly) just has no idea what he's doing. He's been in the bottom 4 of the league every year barring our first season. He has no future draft capital work with (somehow) and his team is just flat out bad. It's bizarre cause he's a huge football fan, but I think how to run a dynasty team is lost on him.

Anyway, thanks again, all!
