Trade: Sanders & Jacobs for top 3 rookie RB's?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Trade: Sanders & Jacobs for top 3 rookie RB's?

Postby Mr. Reid » Tue Feb 25, 2020 2:06 pm

Looking for feedback on this trade. Curious if everyone thinks theirs enough value in the projected top 3 backs this year to move Sanders and Jacobs. I know a lot will change depending on landing spots from the NFL draft, but I'm assuming the draft capital will catapult these guys into early roles with their teams. I like the idea of getting 3 for 2, but last years guys have defined roles and have proven themselves at this point.

So, would you make this trade below based on value? The trade calculator has this trade about even.

Give: Josh Jacobs & Miles Sanders
Receive: D'Andre Swift, Johnathon Taylor and JK Dobbins
14 Team SF (12 keepers)
1QB 2RB 3WR 1TE 1 SF 1Flex K Def

QB - Tua, Purdy
RB - Kamara, Montgomery, Gibson
WR - Chase, Lamb, Boyd
TE - Pitts

24 Picks - 2.13
25 Picks - (4) 1st rounders, (2) 2nd rounders, (2) 3rd rounders

One side is mitigating the risk of bust by taking the 2nd year players with some decent production, the other is banking on all three prospects hitting. I'd probably hold Jacobs and Sanders.

Wow. I think I would take Swift, JT and Dobbins! No question. The trade calculator is not that close either. 1,546 (3 rookies) to 1,178 (Jacobs and Sanders). If that offer is on the table, accept.

The value is on the picks side. Whether right or wrong I think following the nfl draft most will value the top two rookie rbs on par with Jacobs and sanders. If you want to mitigate the risk trade one or more of the picks but I’m taking the picks side easily here based on perceived value

I would take the rookie backs here, but can you wait for landing spots?

Appreciate the feedback.

No, I don't think the offer will stand if/when the draft happens. If a couple of them land in GREAT spots, I'm pretty sure the offer will not be available.

It seems like every year around this time, the rookie hype intensifies. I would take Jacobs and Sanders without thinking twice. First of all, there are so many factors that could work against the rookies. One or more than one of them could end up being busts (we've seen that enough times already), they could land on a bad team, they could take time to develop or get used to the speed of the NFL. Jacobs was phenomenal his rookie season, avg almost 5 ypc, amassing 1150 yards in only 13 games. Miles Sanders showed a lot of promise and I think he's only going to improve. Sure, the 3 picks could be studs, but I rather gamble on the proven commodities

As much as I like both Jacobs and Sanders, I think I’d have to take the three rookies. Jacobs did wonderfully and Sanders showed well, but he may not have the Eagles backfield to himself when free agency and the draft is said and done. All three rookies have such a body of work that it points positively to productivity at the NFL level. I’m a Bucks fan too, so the chance to have Dobbins on a team would be to great to pass up.

I'd take the 3 rookies. Is it Devy? How does he have them already? Start up with rookies?

Foodie. Mild sauce goes in the trash. Well done steak goes with it.

Habaneros make the best hot sauce. Throwing a bunch of random stuff on top of fries doesn't mean you call it "poutine".

One or more of Sanders/Jacobs could end up being busts as well. 2nd year RBs coming off good rookie seasons don't have a very good track record historically either. The last few years have helped it bounce back some but I believe before that the bust rate was even higher than it was for rookie 1st round picks.

It's a 14 team SF league. I'm calculating those will be the players available with the picks he's offering. Worst case scenario, I receive one of Jeudy or Lamb instead of one of the RBs. I appreciate everyone's comments. I think I'm going to accept the offer and gamble on the rookie RB's.

Definitely do it. That’s a steal in my opinion, you get 3 shots at amazing RB prospects vs 2 shots at very good rb prospects.

What are the picks? A lot can change from pre combine, to the time you draft.
