Especially for a rebuilding team, I'd love to cash in on Mack for a late 1st (and maybe squeeze out some extra value).
Selling Mack for a late 2020 1st would be selling very low in my opinion.

I'll throw in my two cents as a Colts fan. I would be unbelievably surprised if they took a running back in the first 4 rounds or at all, frankly. Reich and Ballard are high on all 3 RBs (Mack, Hines, and Wilkins).

I will also be surprised if they don't start throwing to Mack more next year for a couple of reasons. 1) He does have pass-catching abilities; he was used as a receiver a good bit during his rookie season behind Gore. 2) Reich has said that one of the failures of the second half was being too predictable. This included tipping the opposing team off to run plays vs. pass plays. It was almost a foregone conclusion that we were running the ball if Mack was on the field.

Lastly, the offense was depressing when Mack wasn't playing in the two games that he missed. They missed him tremendously (Jonathan Williams sucks, btw). He'll be back in the starting job, rushing for 1200 next season, barring health. Give me a mid-late first for him.

Also not surprised. Mack is much more than a JAG, as he's often referred to on this board. He is a smart and athletic RB and I'd consider him above average overall. He doesn't get many targets, but I'm not convinced that's entirely due to his lack of receiving skills. If he's a JAG, there's a very select few in the league that aren't.

The Colts do need to involve him the pass game a bit more, but I can understand why they prefer Hines on 3rd downs.

I could see them drafting a RB in the later rounds for competition, but feel Mack deserves the start. I'd expect similar numbers in 2020 barring injury.

I think if Luck had played, 1500 yards and 12 TD's on the ground would have been the outcome this year. He did really well, with less than stellar QB play.

Really happy to hear the Colts are hoping to extend Mack, rather than potentially finding his successor in the draft this year (not that they'd come out and say that).

I had previously been looking to sell Mack this off-season for a team undergoing a small rebuild, and I'm not sure if this news provides a nice sell-high window, or makes him more of a hold moving forward. There's also talk about the Colts upgrading their QB situation - either via the draft (trade up for Tua / Herbert?) or Free Agency (how much of an upgrade would Rivers / Winston / Dalton be?), which would further help Mack's value.

Unfortunately, I still think Mack's value is capped as more of a RB #2 because the Colts absolutely refuse to use him in the passing game. As others have said, he's not James White but he can definitely hold his own - and giving him the ball in space will let him capitalize on his speed / quickness to make LB's miss.

So what are you guys doing with him assuming he signs an extension - using it to sell high? Or holding since his job security just went up?

I think that Mack is a hold if he's extended. He's had 2 good years in a row, and is in his prime. He's an explosive playmaker, and really he's closer to his floor than his ceiling, because he can't really be used less in the passing game, but can certainly be used more. Running behind that OL with a new contract, I'm certainly not looking to sell him.

Edit because someone already mentioned it: I’m keeping my ear to the ground to see who the Colts are targeting at QB. If it’s someone like Rivers I would have to think he gets a substantial boost in value due to his willingness to to target his RBs.

Both Michel & Howard lack any sort of NFL speed or lateral agility. They are largely effective because of their downhill running style and they get what's blocked in a good scheme.

Mack is nearly the opposite of that. He can make people miss in a phone booth, has elite breakaway speed, and excels in the open field.

Agreed 100%. As a Mack owner, Rivers is perhaps the best QB upgrade we could hope for, outside of striking gold in a rookie.

Rivers should bring some credibility to the passing game, absolutely loves throwing to his running backs, and is actually very good at audibling to the right run-play, especially in the red-zone.

Even if the Colts refuse to use Mack as a 3-down back, he should see his catch total increase to 35 or so with Rivers under center. Best case scenario, he gets turned loose as a featured back (finally).

Marlon Mack? He's an explosive playmaker with plus agility and speed. Doubt the Dynasty community turns on him if he's extended and locks in the primary role with that OL for a few more years.
